DAZ specific tasks and PC resource usage?
Hi all,
I know there are plenty of threads related to cpu vs gpu and whatnot but haven't found the answer to specific tasks within DAZ Studio. Aside for my GPU, the rest of my PC is 8 years old and I'm considering doing an upgrade just for DAZ Studio, therefore I want to make sure the investment is justified (motherboard, CPU and RAM). I have no issues with the render times and if I get an error when rendering, is usually because I don't have enough RAM (24 GB). So I'm not going to touch that topic as part of the investment is to increase my RAM to 64 or 128 GB.
I'm more interested in two specific tasks: (1) loading scene/characters and (2) posing. These tasks have become so unbearable and long that I'm losing interest in using DAZ studio. And I'm hoping that doing this upgrade will solve that issue. I already have Turbo Loader by RSA but haven't put too much time on it to learn how to use it properly.
So the question is.
What PC resources these two tasks use? If its mainly CPU, are they single thread/core or multi thread/core? As a gamer I've always preferred Intel over AMD but I don't know if these tasks will be perform better with AMD.
Whar are your thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

Daz uses Iray as you probably know, the ram on your graphics card is what's important, if you don't have enough ram on the card, it falls back to CPU and how much ram you have for the computer plays a part there as well.
From most the threads I've read, they say you need a graphics card that has 8 or more gigs of ram and the computer should have 32 to 64 depending on your machine.
As for anything else, I bow out for more knowledgable people to speak.
Hi Faeryl,
Thanks for the reply. However, as I mentioned, I'm not worried about rendering times or capacity, I got a RTX3090 so I'm good in that department. I don't use CPU for rendering either that's why I get an error when I run out of RAM. My issue is, I waste more time loading and posing than rendering. For my renders I leave the PC rendering overnight and the job's done next day. And yes, I've also read you should have in your RAM no less than twice your VRAM that's why I want to upgrade to 64 or 128 GB.
Thanks for your input.
So if anyone can answer what resources DAZ use for loading and posing that'll be great.
Cheers
Loading times are not that much about hardware. Long loading times are an indication of conflicts between installed assets, and the fix is to start going through the log and figuring out which assets are the problem.
