...oy more  torrential rain heading for New York City and the Northeast.

    Be careful eveyone.

  • My friend in Queens wrote back that the last storm didn't make it into his ground floor apartment.  Maybe this time?

Complaint:  Gravy in my ear.frown  OK, I'm not a good cook, I buy my gravy in small jars.  I don't use much, so when I open it I write the date on the lid.  I do that so that I can get a clue when things would probably be growing in it, and I wouldn't want to open the lid and let them attack me.enlightened  The jars have a half-twist cap, not a screw cap.  When setting in the refrigerator for a couple of days, the liquid tends to separate a little so I put my finger over the cap (can't be too careful, me thinks) and give the jar a couple of good shakes to mix it up a bit.  Today, I was in a hurry (a violation of the first of my rules for surviving old age), and didn't notice that the lid, although tight, was on crooked.  And yes, when I shook it, I was immediately sprayed with cold turkey gravy leaking out of the cap edge not sealed.  Gravy on my fresh shirt, in my hair, on my socks, on my pants, on the counter, on the stove, on the wall, on the oriental rugs on my kitchen floor (yes I have oriental rugs in my kitchen), on my face and in my ear.surprisesad  And I don't even have a pet to lick if off of me.indecision

ummm looking at it real close to me it looks like postwork ,checking all the places were template seams would be on the DAZ Dog8 ,theres nothing ,but it looks like the marble texture was overlaid on a white dog ,could be wrong though . Especially look at just below the right ear the marble pattern doesn't follow the skin folds ,ummm also if they want to beieve it's real or AI  don't stress yourself over it ,everyone has the right to miss things .......

I have to say that it is a natural dog with a lot of postwork. I have marble shaders I can not reproduce; as you say, the seams are nasty. After applying the Shader, I hit ctrl+z, which messed up the dog, which was different of maps.

Here is Daz Dog 8 with a marble shader. I  should have decreased the displacement...

Edit: actually it doesn't have displacement - it is just the normal map.

mmm now I am questioning everything blush

  • When and who are you questioning, and what about? And where will you be doing it?

Admirable task.  But you'll end up finding nothing at the bottom of the well.  Ask a physicist.frown

    I haven't found that well.

  • Photoshopped real dog. I'm looking at the joint bends in the hocks and knees. There's also some skin wrinkling at the front of the hock bend, and a bit of "knobiness" at the wrist, suggesting it's still a young dog. One thing that really bugs me with Dog 8 is most of the "sit" poses I've seen for it looks terribly "off". Dog 8 also has the muscle bulges in the forelimbs starting too far down. Also, the front feet in the photoshopped dog are different from each other due to the way they're sitting on uneven snowy ground.

I concur with your statement. I had to look at it very hard. Whoever it was, they did a great job.

For the dog picture, I thought it was not a Daz3D model as the paws are too realistic.

I have been having a time trying to figure out the picture below. Looking at the face, I first thought it must be fake. But with all these new camera filters going around, phones produce pictures of real people that look like that. The background could easily be a DAZ background or HDRI. But then the skirt looks like there's no way it could be a DAZ skirt, because it actually looks good. The text on the wall seems to be unreadable, and the picture on the monitor is blocked, so no help there. A friend of mine said the nipples don't match and that's a sign of a real woman. That's when I deleted the photo. But I got it out of the recycle bin for this post.

possibly with a filter, phone apps have lots for smoothing skin etc

I saved it to my desktop and enlarged it a lot...quite a bit of artifacting around the face, edges of the clothing, even the monitor and the shadow on the wall.  I'd say it has been enhanced in some way.  Deleted it after I inspected it.  As far as the skin on her face, I've seen beautiful smooth skin like that, especially on women of color.  The hairline on the forehead looks natural, as well as the hair on the edge of the jawbone.  I think it's a real woman with some digital enhancement.

  • I also think it's real. The artifacts are really bad, but there are some clues that it's probably real. At the back of the sleeve there is some puckering around the seam, like when a thread gets pulled. At the waist, there's a lump at the bottom of the side seam that you get where perpendicular seams overlap. I haven't seen that in 3d meshes.

A package I ordered left Kennesaw, GA on the 3rd and was scheduled to be delivered today. There had been no status updates until earlier today, when the scheduled delivery was changed to "pending".

Is it lost or did it just want its freedom?  Rogue package.  Package on the loose.  Package gone AWOL.

If shipped by Amazon, it's usually trivial to get compensation.  Yeah, it might cost a little more than if shipped by a 3rd party Amazon vendor but the refund situation is less stressful.  In fact I recently got a blurb from Amazon saying that they will, or have already implemented UPS/FedEx free pickup from your home for authorized returns for members of Amazon PRIME.  Saving on shipping both ways, and you don't even have to leave the house.yes  Great feature for house bound people like me, unable to easily get to a UPS storefront.smiley

  • Complaint: Frost warning and soon the snow will be here for the next 5 or more months.Time to bring my plants inside for the winter. After 2 weeks of rain almost every day, they are saturated and weigh a ton. nevertheless, I got them all in and set up in their winter homes, except the monster. The monster is a huge ming fern that spans 10 feet and is 5 feet tall. It's covered in half-inch thorns. With its huge pot, it weighs well over a hundred pounds. It was this morning's project. I had to move it 60 feet and up a full flight of narrow stairs. My clothes are now ripped in multiple places and I am bleeding profusely from multiple spots.

Non-complaint: I'm rather impressed that I moved the (insert expletives, lots of them ;P) thing myself and only broke off 2 tiny branches. At least I don't have to move it again until June. I need a nap laugh

  • No, you need a pot on castors and an elevator.enlightened

  • I used a 4-wheeler where I could. I had a stove that I'm giving away sitting on it, so I had to move that too. No elevator in this old house lol. Which reminds me, I need to put my umbrella away. It's sitting on the plant stand with casters lol.

I am guessing that might be a Daz Studi render.  I think it is the grass.  I never seen a yard with grass that is perfectly cut like that. (and no weeds?)
