Yet another one that I've watched become ancient: Hmmm..., 99? That's pretty good, but no cigar. Should'a held out for the 100 behind curtain #2

I personally loath game shows, but his military service during WWII and stance for animals has my admiration and thanks. And this is besides being a decent human being. My prayers for his family and friends at this time.
I was a TV addict as a child... hence bad eyes... the red measles didn't help... Anyway, Bob Barker was a great host, a friendly face and voice. I needed that on a daily basis in those days. I can hear his voice by thinking of the name alone. I know things were more "canned" in those days - less was allowed outside of the script - but friendly faces like his were what kept a lot of us sane(r).
My parents were very much affected by the war and Depression, which carried over onto us kids. That's why those corny old game shows, for example, were so addictive for us, as they were to so many people back then. I don't think I even cared about, or understood, the game. I, we, all just needed the peace of mind. Have peace, Mr. Barker, and thank you!
Edit: I want to make it clear that my parents were always kind & fair to us. The only negative effects of the war on them were in the form of depression and what I now believe to have been PTSD. Watching Mr. Barker's show was a very much needed family tradition.
Condolences.
Some shows you watch for the star, & The Price is Right back when Bob Barker hosted was one of them. Odd, because he was very matter of fact, but still very sympathetic to the (losing) contestants too.
