What's the difeerence between DS, PS, and PoserCF Package?

Hello,

In the Intall Manager's "ready to download" section, there are packages with the same name followed by DS, PS or PoserCF. Could you telle me what's the difference?

Thank in advance!

    Hello,

I'm not 100 % sure myself (being new to Daz Studio too), but DS should mean Daz Studio and PS should mean Poser. I have no idea about the meaning of CF in PoserCF.

If you're using only Daz Studio, downloading only the DS packages should be fine: it's what I do, and I don't think I'm missing anything.

  • CF is Companion File - in the case of PoserCF, it usually means files for enabling the Poser DSON Importer to load the content from the Poser libraries.

Similarly to what Richard said, a "Studio CF" is a companion file for using poser-format content in DS. It  generally includes DS materials (3DL) for the poser files.

When installing a product for Daz Studio:

    - if there are "DS" files, just installing those is usually all you need

    - if there is a "Studio CF" file, that means the content is in Poser format with DS materials (like some V4 era content). So you need to install both the Ps and Studio CF files.

    - if there's neither DS nor Studio CF files, only Ps, then the content is in Poser format, install the Ps files.

Thank you very much! So, if I understand well, if I use only Daz Studio, I don't need to download PoserCF packages, becase they are using in Poser, is it that?

That is right, but if you have a product with a big installer, PS or just the plain name, and (usually) a smaller StudioCF you probably do want both. You may also, mainly on older Daz+ items, encounter Bryce CFs - those are Bryce scenes set up to take a piece of content sent across from Daz Studio.
