Stacking of Discount

I often face the problem that I can't tell wich discounts apply when and till what amount. From my experience they stop stacking at 75%.
Today we have Legacy Items extra 20% off when I buy any golden ticket item, but then thei'd be all for free, for once 3.99$, (would be awesome thought).
A general checkmark if a discount/offer is applicable for an item would be great.

Discounts do not stop stacking at 75% - I've definitely had items that have gone above that with multiple stackings. However, you'll often find the ones that bring things down to a certain set price do not end up stacking with other discounts.

Also, 20% off 3.99 would not be free anyway - it would be $3.19.

The discounts definitely do not stop stacking at 75% off.

The deepest discounts in my cart today are 96% off with the whole cart being 93% off

    Base price 100%
    Daz+ member -30%
    Golden Ticket -20%
    Legacy Items -80%
Kick Off the 2023 PA Sale, banner discount -30%
    Special Thanks, banner discount -10%
    8 tokens for -40%

    = 100 x 0.7 x 0.8 x 0.2 x 0.7 x 0.9 x 0.6 = 4.23 (= 95.7% off)

But your mileage may vary. There are always variables such as if you're a Daz+ member among other things.

    No, they wouldn't be free.

Did you maybe think that when you have stacking discounts you add the percentages, eg if an item is at 50% off and you get "an extra 20% off" you'll get 70% off the base price in the end? Because that's not how it works. Each additional discount is applied to what remains after the previous one has been applied. So the global percentage discount from the base price is lower than the sum of percentages.

Take the legacy items and extra 20% off for example. Say that your item base price is $10. After the 80% off, there are $2 remaining. You remove 20% of those, and you end up with $1.6. So overall you got 84% off the base price, not 100% off.

Ok, generally I just want to point out that I have often difficulty to understand the discounts and can not easily find the items in my interest that are discounted.
As example today various Items on my wishlist where discounted 65%, when I put them in my cart they where suddenly 75-80% discounted, which made them interestig for me.
So small Icons marking applicable discounts would be helpfull.

Today they might not have stopped stacking but I experienced it often before that the max discount stopped at 75%, but more was possible.

The more discounts that are stacked the less effect the later ones will have, because theya re applying to the cumulative discount so far (not that the order matters, rounding errors aside, but whichever you mentally count as last will seem less impactful than the earlier ones).

Some discounts - Fast Grab and many Grab Bag offers for example - do exclude stacking with other discounts entirely, so those would stick at whatever the offer was.

If discounts are meant to be added it would say "an aditional x percentage points" - though Daz doesn't usually do it that way, instead replacing one discount with another when certain criteria are met.

The information of all discounts possible/available is usually on the day's sale page, accessible by clicking on the email, if you get the emails, or by clicking on the sliding banner on the store's main site. I don't think it would be possible to add all extra potential discounts as icons on hundreds (thousands?) of products daily, especially that some of them require a new release in cart, or a particular number of items from the selection in cart, or a coupon code, or a combination of them. Then, there are orange banners (little orange pop-up banner on top of the page, if you close it, it's still available in messages in your account) that might also discount some items, and special offers on the sliding banners (like "today only, 30% select Daz Originals if you use coupon "ZZZ"), and so on.If you're shopping purely via your wishlist, you're probably missing out on many stacking discounts, but to check them all and find the best prices often does require what users here refer to as "cart jenga".

Today they might not have stopped stacking but I experienced it often before that the max discount stopped at 75%, but more was possible.

There are offers, for example fast grab bags and some others that state "offer does not stack with other discounts", and then the maximum discount will stop at whatever discount was set for that offer, 50%, 65%, or 75% (or any other). Except for those, it all depends on what promotions are active and what do you have in your cart. In the past, even before the tokens, I got some items at 98%, but there are days where the offers won't get you that far. So it all boils down to: do you wait for and hunt down all the possible discount or you settle for less discount with no (or less) wait time and less time spent figuring discounts. Some people choose to save money, while some people prefer to save time. Some just enjoy playing around to see what discounts are possible. There's no one way ;)

like today, the 65% items seem to be landing at 80% off total. I have no tokens or coupons to use. I ghave a banner for 30% off all promos today, bought the headline item, so another 20% off. That headline item is a very good offfer, BTW. If you're not pverall using G9, its still good. You can use it on the free G9 figures with free G9 essentials.

If you have a golden ticket item in your cart, and if those 65% discounted items are part of the sales, the golden ticket item will remove another 20 %. If you already own at least 30 items by today's featured PAs, it's another layer of discount (30 %).

So, with a base item of $100, it could go as follow (not taking into account tokens)

    • 65 % of $100 is equal to 100 x (1-0,65) : $35
    • 20 % of $35 is equal to 35 x (1-0,2) : $28, which is an overall discount of 72%
    • 30 % of $28 is equal to 28 x (1-0,3) : $19,60, which is an overall discount of 80,40%

And you can do the maths in any order, you should get the same result at the end.

The most difficult part is identifying all discount that can apply and like you said, it would help if the cart provided information about what offer is active on each item, but once you have identified them, it's easy to do the maths yourself.

Then, there the recent sale during which we paid bundles only for the prices of the items we didn't own in them: I spend a long time trying to understand how it worked, but I didn't get it at all.

Where is my Special Thanks, banner?  I've spent way too much money not to get one. :(

So, I'm wondering... I only have 2 tokens, but a ton of stuff tentatively in my basket. Could I break them up into multiple baskets, earning tokens and using them in the process?

I would say yes. For instance, I have $45 worth of items in my cart now which tells me I'll get 8 tokens ( are they doubling them?) I would then go back and buy some more stuff, and then use the tokens to save another 40% on the second order, or use however many tokens I want to on that order. .. plus I dont see anything that says you can't use the other savings multiple times.

It's how I understand it too, but if someone had an opportunity to test it to confirm that it's true, I'm all ears blush (my bank account, not so much…)

Mondays and Tuesdays are double token days and the last two Wednesdays have been triple token

    Technically it would be possible.
The discounts come regularly and in a similar number and order. There are already Icons under the products for DAZ Original, G2, Poses ... So if smilar discounts would be asigned a specific Icon, products the discount applies to could be marked.

But I guess the socalled Hunt is a strategy of this site, so better overview is maybee not necessary. It can be seen as a good pretraining for the product libary.

The problem isn't with adding the icon. The problem is that the icon can't encompass things like the name of the specific code you have to use, the specific number of items of a specific selection that you have to put in your cart for the discount to work, or the new releases applicable to discount this specific item.

These are all discounts that can affect the final price, and are not easily marked with an icon as the codes and other conditions change.

There also isn't much of a "hunt" for those discounts. They are all stated (usually clearly enough, if not, inquiries are made on forums, in the sales reporting thread) on one page which you can easily access through the sliding banners on the shop's main page. Sometimes, there are additional discounts on the sliding banners, so "the hunt" is waiting under a minute for them to cycle. Yes, the sales and discounts can be complicated ("buy X to get 10% discount on Y, but if you buy X and Z, you'll get 30% discount on Y and on W"), and you're welcome to choose not to juggle your cart or juggle it only as much as you feel like it, but there isn't really anything that requires you too search long in some obscure places.

But if you just shop via your wishlist, never check anything else, and insist on doing so, then yes, you're missing out on a lot of discounts.

So you really call a list of 49 pages with each 120 Items easy to acess?
I feel that it is like a hunt and you said so yourself:

So it all boils down to: do you wait for and hunt down all the possible discount or you settle for less discount with no (or less) wait time and less time spent figuring discounts.

Can you not use the filters to restrict what is shown?

If one is a Daz+ member, DO items get extra 30% off to start with, so I start with filtering the list to DO items only, then I filter for Daz Studio which drops out the oldest items.
If the list is still too long (in thousands of items), I may filter for G8, or I sort the list by price and jump to a page where the prices are low enough.

I can use filters of course.
And hey, here we have the perfect Idea.
Why not making a filter for wishlist Items.

    +10000000

That would really help on sales with tons of pages!

DAZ-DEALS PRO filters wishlist only, owned items only, by percentage off, and more. I can get in and out of a sale very quickly using it simply by filtering each subcategory page by wishlist only, carting the items I want now, and going to the cart to see what will stay. It also helps that DAZ-DEALS PRO shows me the lowest recent price on each carted item as well as its current percentage off. It's essential for me.

Yeah, but you have to pay a subscription to use it when the features at there to help you buy more stuff from Daz. The subscription is higher than what I pay to be a Daz+ member each month. I understand supporting the extension devs, but I think it's silly for Daz to not actually include it since it could drive more sales. I also can't use the browser extension on my tablet, which is where I do most of browsing... Better filters would be nice and work on my tablet. :)

I would also love a wishlist filter, but unfortunately it is not a given that this is a win-win for both sides. I can not imagine that a wishlist filter would be a huge amount of development for the web team, so if they really had wanted it, we would have had this a long time ago.

The problem with a wishlist filter from the sellers perspective, is that people might only buy what they need, rather than what they like. If we only see our wishlist stuff, how can we be tempted by the other sale goodies we do not see? There is a reason many real world stores put things like chocolate bars, ice cream etc close to the entrances, or near to check out, as they are the sort of stuff people may buy when they actually come into the store to buy something completely differerent.

I do see how a wishlist filter could drive sales, but it could lose some as well, so it is a difficult balancing decision for the store to make.

I belive I'd still scroll through the other discounted Items to discover new interesting things.
At days I have not so much time I'd get faster acxess to the desired products and generally I could notice something of desire is affected by a sale.
In the above case I had  shaders in my wishlist discounted 65%, I still heasitated to buy them, but just for try put them in my cart and they went down to 80% so I bought them.
Maybee to mention. I'm not intending to buy a Pro Membership, to expensive and in my opinnion only usefull if you start building your product libary, but not if you own already plenty of things.
