I have a texture to which I need to add emission, but there's no emissian 'channel' availade. How do I add that one, save for changing the complete texture to another?

  • I'm afraid there is a wrong type of shader is applied to the surface, you can apply !Iray Uber Base shader which has luminance channel and then apply all textures you need.

  • Emission is a shader property, with its own colour picker etc. in the Surfaces pane, not part of a texture. Which do you mean?

That when I apply a certain shader, the emission part is not there.

I've come across that earlier, and then I always apply the standard Iray shader instead, and the I can add emission. But this shader is a skin shader with a lot of settings for dual lobe specs etc that I'm losing when applying the standard shader. So it seems to me either that or the emission, which is really hampering.

I would suggest adding a geoshell with the area you want to emit masked off (if it is not just a material on its own)....then put the shader that does have emmissions on the geoshell

In order to not have the shell obscure the skin but still emit light you will need to use the methods here Creating a "Ghost Light" - Daz Studio 4.21.1.26+ - Daz 3D Forums
