If my game is free

Hello, I am just starting out in game design

I am wondering... if my first game is free do I need to pay for the Daz indie license fee?

Thanks

If you're using the mesh in the game, yes.

  • If you are just using images, jpg's, png's, etc., you can use any of the assets that are covered by the DAZ eula and still charge I believe. Email DAZ for confirmation, but like Mike said, I believe that the indie and pro licences cover specific use of the mesh.

You pay to use the mesh; it's your decission how much you charge your customers.

    Using images is free.

  • If you're using the mesh in the game, yes.

Assuming you haven't made a million from a previous release - the income level for indie or pro licenses reflects your income, not what you might make on the new game being developed. In your case just starting, and presumably not having released previous titles, would almost certaibly mean that the indie license was all you needed.

Thanks for clairifying that part of the game licenses. Its a bit obsure, especially if your not a profit enterprise.  I bought both types of licenses to be safe and all my pubished games are free.  Actually many are not games but rather interactive media experiences.  Unity, Torque and other game engines makes a great way to tell an interacive animated story in realtime 3d.  Prince pioneered thisstype of media back in the 90's https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Interactive
