Can't get my backdrop to show

Hi, I'm using version 4.2.  I go to Envronment > Browse then I select the image file and I can see the thumbnail of the image to the right of the viewport but it won't load.  What could I be doing wrong?

Thanks

  • I assume you mean Daz Studio 4.20.x.x? Version numbers are not decimals, so the trailing zeroes count. However, I don't understand what you mean - are you using the Environment pane set to backdrop or are you using the environment map in Render Settings? If its in render Settings are you in Iray or Filament Drawstyle, and is the Draw Dome option on?

  • I'm using the Environment pane set to Backdrop.  Sorry I couldn't upload a screenshot.  I keep getting stalled at "Uploading" when I try to attached the file

Does your scene have some large prop that fills the viewport, blocking the backdrop entirely? I recently had exactly that problem, when my scene had a backdrop prop that was loaded by the light set. Try a new scene with nothing in it and see if the backdrop shows up there.

Forum uploads have been broken for weeks, There is nothing wrong with your account that caused the problem. Sometimes uploads will work in the evening Daz time (Utah, USA). If you want to, you can upload your image to an external image host or to your Daz Gallery and put that image URL into the forum thread.

  • You could try now (apaprently uploading works from 18:00 to 00:00, Daz time) or use an external host.

Huh, looking at the screenshot, I can't imagine why the Backdrop isn't working. I use that feature somewhat regularly and it looks to be set up correctly. The only thing I can't speak to is use of Filament as the Draw Style... Does the Backdrop show if you change to Textured Shaded or Iray?

  • How about in renders?

Oh, you are using Filament! No, the Backdrop doesn't display for me in Filament, either. I don't know if that is a bug or by design.
