Simple Balanced Light For Temporary Use While Creating Character

I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a good and easy, balanced light that can be used while you're creating a character.  The base grey room is so dark, but I don't want to have anything complicated or that is too warm or cool either, so it doesn't impact my use of colors and tones, etc. ...

  • You could try adjusting the Tone mapping for the grey room, to make it brighter in renders.

  • You could change the backdrop color in the Environment pane. This is the standalone environment pane, not the one in the Render Settings pane.

Just click the Type and select "backdrop" then you can click the color and set it.

    Ctrl L +1...

But what is a 'base grey room'... color of Viewport (Interface Style) ?

  • Note that ctrl L is just turning off the previewing of lights, it isn't going to affect the render (which I was assuming is the issue, trying to adjust materials in a non-rendered mode is not going to be remotely useful).
