spawning lights, camera and objects where the character is

Hi,

How can I make spawn an item/light/whatever (not parented) exactly where the character is in the scene and not in the original spot where it was when I created a scene?

And is there a way to keep lights/items/whatever (not parented) moving with the character in the scene instead of havin to reposition everything every time?

  • Well, for the first you could parent to the figure with parent In Place off (so that it jumped to the figure's centre point), then unparent with parent in Place on (so it stayed put).

    For the second, literally, not really - in principle a lot of ERC links might work, but I suspect it would bve delicate and certainly it would be fiddly to set up.

    Like ladywolf1 I really miss a comprehensive point and click functionality, but what Richard suggests would at least get you close; I'm assuming you could also use little plane objects (create --> new primitive --> plane) for that purpose. Don't forget the ALT + LEFT MOUSE BUTTON PRESSED Click functionality when for example adding (dragging rather)  props to the scene, the mouse pointer will turn into a circle (see picture) that you can position at the place you would like the prop to be (results may vary but it is better than always having to start from X center middle). In the DAZ shop you can look for utilities that have a certain click and point fuctionality for hands & such.
