Selling clothing that includes a part of existing product?

Noob question here (not sure if this is the best place to post this as well)

I think I already know the answer but would love to be told otherwiselaugh

Been working on a realistic G9 ballet shoe as the auto fit ones from various previous generation products are not doing it for me. Purchased .obj from turbosquid, sculpted and edited the heck out of it in blender, added and shaped the ankle straps in blender from and exported G2 product .obj (I think) and retexturing / uv mapping it all.

Is it a hard NO as far as selling it if/when I get it finished? I think it falls under the "no redistribution of a prexisting mesh no matter how heavily edited or changed"  even though in the end it would be the .DUF data files and such for sale and not the original meshes?

If its a no for selling, what about a freebie? I'm thinking it would be a good idea to find out the OG seller of that G2 product and ask for permission / beg for forgiveness / get some infomation about how all this jazz works.

End of rant, Thanks!

  • The original mesh information is part of the duf, technically you can export a duf as an obj because of this. You would be selling the original creators item no matter what format you used or how much you changed it.

if you did not create all of the original mesh or didn't purchased a mesh with the license to sell it after you altered it, then you cannot sell or share it in any form. Strictly personal use only

  • Thanks for the responses, that clears thing up for me. Sounds to me like best case would be to git rid of meshes from the G2 product and read up on what licensing the turbosquid model is underyes
