Help needed - DS 4.8.0.59 - requires at least OpenGL 1.3 (Win10)

Hi there,
Today I have upgraded from Win 7 64-bit to Win 10. On Win 7 everything worked great but now DS doesn't even open and give a message: 'Daz Studio requires at least OpenGL version 1.3. Your machine currently provides OpenGL 1.1. Please contact your video card provider to get updated drivers or upgrade to an OpenGL 1.3 compatible graphics card'. Other programs such as Bryce 7.1, SketchUp, etc works though on Win 10 fine. Can one upgrade online the OpenGL?
Is this because it's now Win 10? It's still the same 64-bit laptop I have used with Win 7. I had an icon for an Intel HD graphics card but now it's not showing under hidden icons. When I have clicked on hidden icons in Win 7, I got another menu showing all items where you could manage what should be showing or not, but not anymore! Where can I now check the graphics card that the system is using? It do not show under system settings of Windows or devices. I am absolutely clueless when it comes to technical stuff! :(
Any advice is much appreciated!
Laura

You need to install the latest drivers AMD/NVidia. Go to the respective vendor's website.
https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/ is useful for monitoring graphics cards, and should help identify. I avoid laptops if at all possible. :)
If you need further help, post a screen shot of what gpuz shows.
I also have this problem with my laptop.I've tried to update the drivers but intel says their are no new ones.Microsoft tells me to ask the Xbox support.
Post your specs. And download GPUz and post a screen shot of what it shows.
Thank you, everything is now back to normal since I have updated the NVidia drivers! And now Intel HD graphics is showing again. :)
Glad you're sorted.
I don't have an Amd nor nvidia graphics card only intel graphics.GPUz says the same as the last three or four driver update scanners that I have tried."no new drivers are available
GlennF...please post your computer specs.
Driver update scanners are not the be all/end all of finding if there are updates available.
This is what I see.
Make/model of the laptop...
Hp
Model=G72
Sadly I get the same "OpeGl 1,3 required, you only have 1.1! I have a Toshiba, but they do not have new drivers, neither do Intel (my graphics card). Are there ANY products that DO work on 1.1?
Have also tried the tech website, it says my OpenGL is 2.0?
Thanks
The problem seems to be that there are NO Win10 drivers for that video chip...which basically means you won't get very good OpenGL capabilities (and Intel was always the worst for OpenGL, anyway).
And no, OpenGL 1.1 was quite some time ago (I think Studio 3 needed 1.2...) so no there isn't anything that will work.
You need to get on you laptop manufacturers's case about proper Windows 10 drivers.
I just got that error this morning too when I tried to open DS. From what i've read, it seems to be caused by a file named 'VulkanRT' and a lot of ppl are saying that their games and other apps are crashing or won't run. It gets installed as part of updating your graphics drivers.
Here's how someone explained it: "Vulkan is an 3D graphics API developed by the Kronos Group, who are also responsible for OpenGL. Originally namedOpenGL-Next, Vulkan represents the future of platform and vendor neutral high-performance 3D graphics and is the next-generation successor to OpenGL. In short, it does the same thing as OpenGL or DirectX, but in a manner that allows for a higher level of efficiency and better gaming performance with lower-level access to graphics processors..."
I just uninstalled mine and now DS will open for me. Since I'm not a gamer and run Windows 8.1, I don't require that tech. You can always just uninstall it and see if that works for you too.
My specs:
Win8.1 64 bit
i7-4770 @ 3.4GHz
32GB Ram (31.91GB usable)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 (192 bit)
DS4.9.3.166 Pro 64 bit
Yes, this is ok on Desktops with other video cards installed but someone on a laptop is stuck with the video card that was installed unless it is on a pci slot that can be upgraded. Another route is to install and external video card but I don't recommend this. I would just stick with windows 7 and upgrade the ram until laptop wears out then buy new laptop. Win7 is a great operating system and few people really need windows 10 unless they want automatic updates and MS spying on you I would suggest just sticking with Windows 7.
I didn't catch the part about the laptop. I like Windows 7 myself, but the new compter I bought about 2 1/2 yr ago came with Win 8.1. Hated it til I found a little utility called 'Classic Shell' that gave me back all the stuff I missed from Win7. Got my start button with old style menu that I can customize, regular desktop and explorer windows, etc. Abolutely NEVER have to look at those idiotic tiles. Hubby installed Win10 but I'm not falling for that nonsense.
+1 here.
I used to work with Win XP pro and it was okay with Daz3d, but since I upgraded it to Win7 pro, I have the same message - "Daz studio requires at least OpenGl version 1.3 ..."
When I tried to upgrade my intel graphic driver, I recieved a message, that my driver is up to date. Any suggestions? Or I must go back to Win XP pro?
can someone please please help me?
i'm getting a similar error to this but my drivers are up to date...
I have the same issue. New computer, yet Studio is yelling at me about OpenGL 1.3 even though my GPU driver IS UP TO DATE. And it's a GTX 580 which is listed as an OpenGL 1.3 compatible card, so what gives?!
For the most part the issue is in relation to the windows installation, and can happen with just about any version or hardware.
What happens is that windows installs a default driver for the video card/chip and it can be a nightmare to try to get rid of.
This driver will not update, and will report that you have the latest driver.
Attempting to update the driver "manually", running the exe from nvidia, amd, intel or your OEM, will either result in a failure or a false positive.
To be sure it's not this issue, either right click on an empty space on screen>select screen resolution>advanced settings, if the pop-out says "microsoft basic display adapter", your cards drivers are not installed.
Under device manager>display adapters, it will also say "microsoft basic display adapter".
IF running the, nvidia/amd/intel/oem, driver install doesn't work, it doesn't change the info in device manager, you'll need to extract the contents, or find the file folder, usually on the C:\ drive, and manually install the driver.
Here's the step by step from microsoft: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005629/graphics-drivers.html
While that link is specifically about intel drivers the steps are the same regardless of hardware.
In some cases a simple uninstall(highlight the driver>right click>uninstall) may solve the problem and allow normal driver installation.
Worst case requires a complete system reformat and install of windows, rare but happens.
Here's one I don't think anyone has addressed yet (maybe I just don't see it). I keep installing the last NVidia drivers that work for 3D stereoscopic viewing. I did install the latest NVidia drivers for a GTX 1080 Ti. I wonder if when I am forced to install the 3D drivers it will downgrade the OpenGL drivers. Does anyone know? The driver I have to install for 3D is "418.91-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql." I use 3D mostly for playing Guild Wars 2 (It is magnificent in 3D Stereoscopic). There are few movies I watch in 3D, but I do have quite a few. If I stop with the 3D purely for DAZ I will be sad but hope there are many advantages. Has anyone discarded 3D for DAZ? What are your observations afterward?
