How do I follow an artist via the gallery?

I was on MelissaGT's gallery, as she's one of my favourate artists here, yet instead of laboriously hunting down her gallery, I'd much rather get notified instead... But there seems to be no way to follow someone's gallery that I can see... or not that is.

    I don't believe that's possible with the gallery here. The gallery doesn't even send notifications for anything as far as I am aware - you don't even get comment notifications without the pro version of Daz Deals.

    Some people have their own thread in the forums where they post their new images. I don't know if MelissaGT has one or not, but if she does then you can click the star in the top-right of that thread and you'll get notifications of new posts.

    Yeah I figured as much, that sucks as every single gallery allows for that very thing... Looks like I'll have to pin a tab with her gallery, thanks for the enlightenment!

    Oh, definitely. I do agree that the Gallery section of the codebase could use a bit of love from the development team. Given the fact that they have only just got forum notifications working again after a few months of being broken I figure they may not want to generate more emails. However, even if they allowed us to follow a user's gallery in the same way that we can follow a thread then they could maybe just build those notifications into the website. So that if followed users post new images there will be a little number or icon in the top bar where you can click and see the new images. That would still take some development work of course but perhaps not producing the same server load that pinging off a bunch of emails might do.

    As you mention, other galleries, including those from Daz's competitors, do offer such notifications. And I still stand by the fact that sometimes a forum-user's render can do a better job at showing off a product than the promo images do. So, there would be an argument that the resources spent on adding such a feature may directly lead to more sales of items in the store.

    I usually comment on images of artists I like,  and that places the artist's work in a specific subset folder in the mygallery section,  making it easier to find them. It's a workaround

    Great idea, thanks that's a good way to track your favourite artist, with the added bonus of letting the artist know that their work is appreciated!
