DIM will not install daz studio

I'm trying to get Daz Studio set up on a new computer. I've installed DIM, run it, and logged in. It informs me that it wants to install a big pile of things, including Daz Studio itself. Everything else (assets and tutorials) installs fine, but Daz Studio doesn't install. It just sits there in the "ready to install" tab with a big red "retry" button. Clicking it makes DIM think for a moment, then go right back to where it was. No error message, nothing. I've tried deleting the package and re-downloading it, but the same thing happens.
What should I to do troubleshoot this? I'm kind of stuck.

Pretty sure that's an OS permission thing, but I cannot remember the fix for it off the top of my head. What OS are you running?
There is a cog icon in the top right, click that and check the two logs in there and there will probably be an error message.
Both newer Macs and newer versions of Windows default to modes that are very restrictive about what they will install. In macs you will, at least, need to tell gatekeeper to allow DIM/DIME Helper to run; in Windows 11 you will need to switch off the Windows S mode which limits instalaltion to items from the MS store.

I don't believe I am in S mode. Settings > System > About -> "windows specifications" doesn't say anything about S mode, which is what the MS support page says I should look for.
I tried uninstalling DIM, and removing the "c:\users\public\documents\daz 3d" folder that I have been told daz puts some settings in, for a fresh install...and now I'm even worse off. Now Daz Studio AND PostgreSQL are both refusing to install.
I was able to solve the problem, somehow. A complete uninstall of daz, followed by also manually removing appdata\roaming\daz 3d AND users\public\documents\daz3d AND rebooting seems to have worked, and now I can use the software.
I have questions about how to get my old UI back, but that is probably a matter for a different thread. Thank you!
Sorry for not replying but I went to bed after posting. However, I think Richard added the detail that I was missing - although like you, my version of Windows doesn't refer to it as S mode specifically but I do have Apps > "Advanced app settings" > "Choose where to get apps" set to "Anywhere" which seems to be the same thing with a different name. I miss the old control panel :(
Just to add an additional thing which might explain why your "delete everything and start again" method actually worked could be the presence of "Json Parser (1,1): Syntax error - expected '{' or '['" in the log. That usually happens with a corrupted download from Daz Connect rather than via DIM but the end result would be the same in that something didn't quite download correctly the first time and so it was falling over when trying to read it.
Or you specify an installation directory that's not in the default Programs folder to get around it.
That was my thought, but deleting the package and re-downloading it didn't fix it. Though I suppose it could have had a config file or something that it kept around, with the error.
