I am getting ready to do my upgrade and want to do a clean reinstallation of DAZ. I plan on backing up all of my image files but there is a lot of third party junk in my runtiume that I need to remove. Lots of old free items form Share CG and other sites that would be a real pain to remove and would probably take days. Suggestions on how to remove everything and do a clean install with selected items reloaded. This time, everything that does not install through DIM will be in "My Library" instead of "My Daz 3D Library". TIA

I asked this question over in the DAZ discussion forum and did not get a nibble so I figured I would ask it here. I am in the midfdle of doing my upgrade and want to do a clean reinstallation of DAZ. I plan on backing up all of my image files but there is a lot of third party junk in my runtiume that I need to remove. Lots of old items from other sites that were not installed using DIM. Suggestions on how to remove everything and do a clean reinstall and then just have the basic DAZ installation except for Genesis 9, the props and enviornments I plan to use, and a few selscted Genesis 3, 8, & 8.1 items.
Everything is done on the upgrade except for the installation of the 4090 (renting a crane for that, man that card is BIG) and wanted to run one last set of benchmarks using the old.GPU (RTX 3060 12GB) for the benchmark thread before installing the new card. Thanks in advance.
Current system specs are as follows:
System Specs: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
Gigabyte X570 Aorus PRO WIFI
EVGA 3060 12GB (Soon to ber a Gigabyte AERO RTX 4090)
64 GB (2x62GB) G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR-4 3600 memory
Samsung 870 EVO 4TB SSD
2 Western Digital Blue WD20EZRZ 2TB HDDs in a mirrired array 9soon to be a paiur of 8TB WD blue drives in a mirrored aray)
EVGA Supernova 1200 P2 Platinum PSU
CoolerMaster H500P Mesh Wihte case
AOC 27G2G4 G-Sync Monitor @ 1080p
Windows 10 Professional 64 (for now, as soon as I find my discs or extract my key and get some ISOs, will be installingf WIN 11}
The fastest way to clear out everything from D/S is to simply rename the "My Library" [i.e. the actual content folder holding all the products] to something else so D/S does not 'see' it. Put a new folder with the proper "My Library" [or "Content" or whatever] back so D/S can 'see' that. Uninstall D/S in the normal ways.
Then download and install the latest D/S.
If doing a massive reinstallation of content, I do recommend using DIM because it's a lot faster than manually downloading/installing files. However if wanting to hunt and peck; go through the renamed content folder and slide over to the clean new content folder all the desired content. Maintain the folder structures. [and do not select 'everything' to move at once, that tends to choke and crash the system].
Threads merged.
Catherine, I am looking to remove everything and reinstall the content I want to use through DIM to my DAZ 3D Library and third party assets that do not install through DIM (i.e. items from other sites) to "My Library" to kleep everything straight this time.
Okay. If one has TBs of content, it will take awhile to delete them all from the computer. Hence I start by simply renaming the folder so D/S doesn't 'see' it. If you're reformating the entire disc then of course it doesn't matter. OR, in the OS first set up the garbage bin to not accept huge amounts - then go to the unwanted content folder and delete it. After a short reading time, a warning should appear confirming that you want this deleted permanently from the computer. [otherwise, the OS will spend hours "reading" all the files to be deleted, then possibly commence deleting them ... and if/when one leaves the room invariably a pop-up question will appear holding up the works until it's responded to [this OS feature seems to have existed since I ever first got a computer back in the XP days] ... and, due to the amount, will likely crash part way through the job.]
With the nightmare they call W11Pro, I discovered that some setting in DIM wouldn't remember where I first told it to plant files - I don't know if that 'feature' has changed or not, so be careful each time you launch DIM that indeed the files will be planted where you want them.
{Remember in the new installation of D/S to tell it where to look for the content.}
