What? I stop by after a few months away and find sanity is veritably epidemic at DAZ!
The alternative content installer (I forget the name) is gone and Install Manager is the uncontested installer.. It's also seems a lot faster. Yeah, it turns out that introduicing another installer the proviides less control over the intallation, and as a bonus, scrambles (overwrites?) the existing configuration and/or database of both DS and DIM causing days the recovery time for the user, is not the greatest idea.
And to my great surprise the embarrassing NFT promotional info has disappeared from the site menu. Where am I going to get my koolaid refill now?

Daz Central would not touch DIM path settings if they were present when it was installed (nor vice versa), and did not have a different way to access the database. In general they could coexist without issue, though I think there were some problems with the very first releases of Central (at least with unclear prompts).
