How To Use Kids 4 Morphs, Injections, Expressions?

I bought the Kids 4 package and I can't figure out how to use it. I load "Basic Child" and then can load Hair and some poses, but I can't get the expresion to change or even make them smile or anything. Is there a thread that explains how to use this product? I have Kids 4 Base, Kids 4 Morph ++, etc.
On any other character, I can just click the head and then click an expression and it loads. But not with Kids 4. How do I apply "morphs", and what are "injections" and when do I use them.
Thanks for any advice or direction.

You need to inject the morphs into the figure. So select the figure, go to where you have the morph packs and inject them by double clicking. You need to inject the base morphs and the Morphs++
Ok, i'll try it, thanks!!
You have to remember that K4, along with V4 and M4 are an older technology, they were out for some time before Genesis arrived on the scene.
K4 is not the Basic Child.
So the K4 base is what you need to load. I'm not sure if that has metadata so it shows up in Smart Content, but it should be in your Content Library > Poser Formats, if you can't find it elsewhere.
Yes, I can confirm that Kids 4 does not have Metadata, at least on my system. I have updated my library using DIM, so it should be up to date.
You will find the basic file (as mjc1016 says) in Poser Formats > My DAZ 3D library > Figures > DAZ People and it is called 'The Kids 4.CR2' Load it first, then you will be able to load the Morphs as well.
There are two other files that you should install from DIM, The Kids 4 PowerLoader and The Kids 4 Morphs++ PowerLoader. They make the choice of what to load a lot easier. When you run the CR2 file, PowerLoader pops up, and you can choose to load just the Base Figure, or the Bas and Morphs++ right form the outset.
That is strange, because l have noticed that I now have icons that say "K4", "M4" and "V4" in my Smart Content tab that I never had before. I always had to go looking for the Kids4 in the Poser folder and now I don't. I just have to click on the new icon in the Smart Content tab and it loads. No more hunting for the Kids.
According to my DIM, V4 and M4 have Metadata, but K4 does not, and K4 is not in Smart Content for me? Can you chek in yur DIM to see if The Kids 4 has a check mark opposite it in the Installed tab, mine doesn't. Are you using the new DAZ Connect by any chance?
Like JimmyC, I don't have it show anywhere than Poser Formats. Metadata is somewhat in a flux right now and a lot of things are getting metadata updates.
I don't know why I suddenly have these icons. I assumed it was because of the updates. I checked my DIM and there is no checkmark for the metadata on any of the Gen 4 base characters. I haven't done anything to my directories either. Before these icons popped up, I had no K4 icon. I always had to go hunt in the Poser directory for the Kids. I did have icons for both V4 and M4 with picture icons and those seem to have gone missing now. I will probably see if I can figure out how to change the pictures of the thumbnails although as they stand right now, the current icons DO stand out amongst the many products that I have.
edit: I'm using 4.8 and not trying out the new beta. I've decided to wait on that until it is finished and then decide whether to upgrade.
It may be that those are shapes for Genesis+? Can you right-click and check where the files are?
Okay, I think I have figured out the mystery of the suddenly appearing icons. Batch Convert Gen4 Poses to .DUF Format, which I purchased, but I hadn't played with it yet because I hadn't done anything with that generation of characters since buying it. When I right click on the icon, that is the associated product that pops up. I think the product found where I had these characters in my Poser directory because it needs to load the character to test poses or something and the resulting icons for it are from where they came. In the process, though, it seems to have overwritten the picture icons, with it's own, I had in the Smart content for m4 and v4 which I didn't do, but was there for whatever reason without my help as I have never successfully gotten anything that I wanted in Smart Content to show up there.
SO, I've totally mislead the poor OP with my ignorance of whether the gen 4 characters had been updated to .duf because apparently they haven't.
Chohole and mjc1016, your comments definitely helped, but I am only halfway there. I can't get any expressions or shape changes to take affect. Here's what I am doing:
Load The Kids 4 .cr2 file into the scene. (located in Products > K > The Kids Base )
The Power Loader Import automatically pops up, and I select K4 Legacy Injection Slots, The Kids 4, and The Kids 4 Morphs ++, and click Accept. The kid loads into the scene as a bald unisex character in briefs.
From here, I select the character in the scene and start applying things, like a smile or something. The only thing I can do is apply the “girl base” and/or apply “Marissa”, which just changes the look of her face. I can apply face paint and nail polish. But no expressions.
I can’t figure out how to apply any hair at all. Anything I choose just plops oddly on to the head and I can’t adjust it at all.
I can’t apply any “morphs” at all. How do I do this. I see all these thumbnails for smile, eyes side, happy, fear, chin crease, etc. But I click on them with either the Kid selected or just her head, and nothing happens.
What am I missing? How do I apply hair, and how do I apply expressions?
Thanks again for any help!
What hair have you tried? Some hair will include presets for different figures like Kids4, this is usually "prop" hair (the kind that shows up in the Poser "Hair" library) rather than conforming hair (the kind that shows up in the Poser "Figures" library) -- these presets are usually found in the Poser "Pose" library. Sometimes even if there are no presets there are morphs to fit different figures -- look in the Parameters pane. Otherwise, you can load the hair but not fit or parent it to K4, use the translate/rotate/scale dials to move it into the correct position, and then parent it to the head.
Are you trying to use an expression preset from the Poser "Pose" or "Expressions" library, or using the parameters pane?
Great questions and suggestions, Mike....I will look into this and let you know by tomorrow!
Well, I feel like I have tried every combination to no avail.
I select the Kid's Head and go to the Content Library and go to Poser Formats > Daz3D > Pose > Daz's The Kids 4 > Morphs ++ > Expressions and choose Happy or Sad or whatever, and nothing loads. I tried just selecting the whole character (Marissa) instead of just her Head and applying the same Happy/Sad, etc...nothing.
Nothing in the Morphs ++ or the Base folders under The Kids 4 does anything. Yet I can go into Poser Formats > Daz3D > Pose > Daz's The Kids 4 > MATerials Kids 4 and I can change her eye color. I can apply face paint, etc.
What would you do, from the beginning of loading her into a scene, to get the expressions to work? What are your prefered steps?
Loading hair onto a Kid4 is a whole dfferent story. Still can't get that to work at all. But I'm sure I can figure it out with the help of this forum. Thanks!
Those links load the morph dials (if you have powerloader installed, you don't need to load the morphs again). After loading the morphs you need to go to the Parameters pane and use the slider to set the desired strength.
Mike - you rock. That's what I needed.

For those who need a visual, see the link above. Just select the head of the Kid boy or girl and go here on the Parameters Tab. Once you know how, it's easy! Thank you to all.
Wow, I spent hours on this problem. Thanks everybody for your help. I summarize for those who struggle as I did :
- 1 : Go to : Content Library / Poser Formats / DAZ Studio Library / Figures / DAZ People
- 2 : Merge "The Kids 4" into the scene and select it in the viewport.
- 3 : Go to : Content Library / Poser Formats / DAZ Studio Library / Pose / DAZ's The Kids 4 / Morph Injections
- 4 : Double click on INJ Morphs++, then on INJ The Kids 4, then on INJ Toddler (all of them or the one you need)
- 5 : Go to the Window Parameters / The Kids 4 / Morphs_Shapes / Morphs++
- 6 : And there you go. Playing with the sliders, you'll be able to morph your Kids4 Base into a toddler or any of the morphs you bought from the Store.
Hope it'll help someone :) Cos' there's not much on the web about that !
This Works! Thanks for ending my frustration.
