Edit product metadata by hand ?

For a custom product I created, I want to change the path of the assets from A to B, but I don't want to have to recreate the product metadata.

I changed the Asset value (path to .duf) in Runtime/Support/myproduct.dsx but the changes aren't reflected in DAZ Studio 4.8.

I tried re-importing the metadata but that didn't work. Neither did deleting the product then re-importing it. I also refreshed generously.

I do this a lot actually, editting by hand (can't tell you how many metadata files from Daz have been screwed up because someone creating it did a search and replace and it was the wrong path they replaced with.  Not to mention the ~3000 products from other stores that I have added as custom products then edited the metadata to suit my structure)  You may have already tried these, but they've been what I look at closely when I do hand editing of the metadata files:

1st.  Make sure when you do the <Asset VALUE=" that there is no / at the very start of the path.  It has to be there for the SupportAsset VALUE= but if you do it in the Asset VALUE, it fails. Also, make sure there is not a /> at the end, should be a ">.  SupportAsset VALUE wants the /> but doing that with Asset Value will cause it to fail on reimport.  Be careful as one misplaced quote or slash will cause it to fail to reimport.

2nd.  Make sure the paths starts from within the My Library folder (So "Runtime/Libraries/Poses/..." or "People/Genesis/..."

3rd.  Make sure the runtime (B) you're putting this custom product in is actually mapped in the Content Directory Manager (otherwise Daz cannot find it).

4th.  I always delete the metadata out of the Daz Products first, then go ino Content Database Maintenance, and run the "Remove Un-Mapped Base Paths and Orphans, Remove Orphaned File References, and Consolidate File References.  Then I reimport.

Yes, if you are sure of the rest, the step 4 is the most important. I often created some products, made some metadata and changed them at the end : "by text edition". As long as step 4 was not done, the changes were not visible is the smart content.
