Items made for Daz 4.7 onwards will they work in other applications

Sorry if this is a silly nobe question, but i have been working with Daz 3 advance for a number of years now, and have a think 4.7 version the last time i looked, never been able to load content on with this, so stuck to using Daz 3A, But there are a number of props, clothing and scenes i want, but only compatible to daz 4.7 onwards, i did buy the Ocean set by Marshian and failed to use it, as i wanted to do some sea scenes i have now tried to imort it, load it using Poseray, Heagon etc again failing,

So the question is if an item prop/building/set is made for Daz 4.7, 4.8 and now the new one 4.9 it will only work in those programs?

The clothing i know won't work as they are made for Victoria 5-6-7 etc or whatever she is called these days!

You should be able to load any content that you are using in DS3 in DS4.7, are you saying that you can't?

The DAZ Studio file format was changed in DS4.5 I think, to .DUF instead of .DAZ, but yu can still open .DAZ files as long as the 'data' folder for the saved scene geometry is still available to it.

DS 3 cannot use the new figures from Genesis on, since they use wieght mapped rigging which DS3 cannot read, but any older content, and Poser content, should be usabel in both DS3 and DS4.7.   Newer items that are for the Genesis figures will not work in DS3.

The exception of course, would be Plugins which are specific to DS3, and have not been updated to work in DS4.7 or higher.

  • No its the other way around 4 .7 etc into Daz 3,

As for Daz 4.7 i just can't load any content into that been trying for over a year and still no luck, told it where the paths are etc but still won't load, so just stuck to good old Daz 3, of course the down side is can't get any new stuff as it only works for newer 4.7, 4.8.

What error messages were you getting?

  • I take it you mean trying to load the content into 4.7 onwards, i don't get any error messages, it just won't work!
