Saving Opacity Settings of Layered Mask Images (Solved)

Hello dear community,
since I unfortunately couldn't find a thread on this topic, I open a new one.

Is it possible to save the opacity of Layered Mask Images separately as a preset?
The background is that I'm working on a makeup set that consists of several color layers with masks. Now I would like to control the intensity of the makeup by adjusting the opacity of the masks without having to reapply the layer. By saving as a Layered Image Preset it seems no differentation is possible.
If anyone has an idea or perhaps knows of a thread in which this has already been discussed, I would be very happy.

Topic was solved with following answer:

In fact you just need to save Material Preset rather than LIE Presets of the Slot(s) that you set LIE images with different Opacity values (e.g. Base Color, Translucency, etc.)...

If you know how to edit a preset *.duf file, you even don't have to set Opacity values by opening LIE each time.. Just open preset duf file, search 'transparency' and set a value there, and save as 25%, 50%, 75% . duf files... Remove the map you don't need accordingly.

If you want to adjust the weight of a layer, then why not just open LIE and adjust the oppacity of that layer?

  • Hi felis,
I would like to make it as easy as possible for users who are not very familiar with the surface settings. Therefore I would like to create presets with which the Opacity of each Layer Mask can be reduced to 75, 50, 25% with a short click.
Users who know how to do it can still do it in the editor.

I misunderstood. I thought it was for your own benefit.

I haven't really tried to save partial layered preset.

I am in doubt how LIE behaves if you apply a new LIE preset to an existing LIE.

    Maybe somebody else knows.

  • Yes, I would like to offer that too. It's my first real project and I'm looking for the most user-friendly presets for it.

So I thought maybe there was a way to access the layers and save Color and Mask separatly that I haven't found yet.
With this idea I run into the problem that I can't select a single layer to which I could apply a new preset. If I load a new one, it is simply placed on top, if I replace one using ctrl+click, all other layers are deleted. But if that's not possible, it might be possible to change the opacity of all layers together. Not that nice, but at least something. So being able to store it correctly is the key.

Many thanks for your effort! :) I hope someone has an idea, otherwise I'll have to look for another way.

I would think it could be done with a script, but scripting in Daz I haven't relly digged into.

  • Hmm that's a good tip. I haven't worked with the scripts yet too, but at least I learned a bit of QT a few years ago, which the scripts are apparently based on.
I'm out of practice when it comes to programming, so that would be a good opportunity to refresh it :D
    Thank you!

That's great crosswind! It´s exactly what I needed.
I actually haven't even got the idea to edit the files yet. This makes a lot of things much easier, so I no longer have to load and save all the presets in DAZ, but just insert the needed values in Notepad. Will save a lot of time.
I'll still take a closer look at the script thing.
I'm amazed at how quickly and friendly you get help here if you just ask. Thank you both very, very much!
This topic can be closed with this :)

  • Can´t I close it by myself? I don´t find a way to do this...

    You can't close it.

But edit the first post and you can change the title to include 'Solved' or similar.

  • All right. Thanks again.
