Product references disappearing from my CMS user categories.

Has anyone else noticed that product references sometimes disappear from CMS user created categories?

It happens to me alot. And it infuriates me when I'm searching for a resource I know I have, but can't find it. This is of course the scenario in which I discover the problem. I don't know the name of the resource, but I know where I would file it. I go there and the product references are gone. Searching for the actual resource can take about 15 to 30 minutes of trial and error guessing.

I think I read somewhere that this might happen if the meta-data for resources gets screwed up. Is this so?

More importantly: HOW CAN I MAKE IT STOP?

    Never happened to me so far, and my smart contents setup is heavily customized.
