spot render not saving as the same size as full image

Idk if there's an easy fix for this or what but I have always had this problem it seems. Only now have I looked at the sizes.

Take for instance the project I'm working on now. The main image saves at 1523x881, but the area render saves as 1517x875

I very often render the full scene and then render small bits that need to be adjusted (like the hair is too in the face for the one I'm working on, so I used spot render to render a section with hair removed so I can adjust it in photoshop.

But if I try to import this into phosohop it's gonna be a: not lining up with the rest of the image and b: blurry if i try to adjust it.

so how do I get these two images to render at the same size?

    Spot render to a new window. That will render out to the selected size in the Render Settings.

    {Tool Settings Pane}

    yes, that's what i'm doing. i usually render to current viewport. if i try to do this with spot render it saves a smaller image size for some reason.

    Spot render will only render the selected part of the image. The entire rest of the render image will be transparent. In the image editor paint a dot on the 4 corners to keep the entire thing the right size before copy/pasting it to a new layer over the target image.

    but shouldn't it still render at the right size? it's just slightly too small. so it doesn't really fit on my image. like i said if i size it up it becomes blurry and somehow is still not in the right place. i use photoshop so it tells me when it's fit to the entire image.

  • If you mean for example, like an apple on the table being rendered twice. Yes the spot render of the apple should be the same size as the apple of the original render.

    Any chance the camera was moved ever so slightly? That could cause a change.

    The 'frame' of the window for the spot render should be appearing at the full size of the main render {same as if it was the full size render}. If it isn't then the render settings need to be adjusted.

  • What are the render dimensions set to? If it's Active Viewport, rather than an explicit pixel size, that may be the issue.

  • I took a look at this in D/S. Then in the image editor. Okay when you get the images, put the corner marks in place so all layers will stay the same size. Place the fix on a top layer, and carefully erase the same area on the bottom layer.

    There is feathering on images; the more that are stacked, the stronger and larger the borders will be.

    Spot Render will always use the dimensions set in Render Settings. This means that if your camera uses Local Dimensions that differ from the dimensions in Render Settings, the Spot Render will come out at a different size. To fix this, set the same dimensions in Render Settings as in the Local Dimensions on your camera.
