Is This Still Good Today

I just bought this thinking it would be great for learning to rig stand alone characters, didn't occur to me that I should have asked about it here on the threads first.

Anyway, has anyone used this or know if it's relevant to today, as I have no idea how old the product is.

Major mistake ... this is the actual product I bought. Would like to know how old it is, as well as if relevant for today.

  • Do you mean this: https://www.daz3d.com/rigging-original-figures-in-ds4-pro ?

    If so, I've read through it, planning to use it this week, but got diverted.

    Regards,

    Sorry Zombie, it was late and forgot the link. it's there now.

    Yes Richard, that's the one I bought. I know absolutely nothing about rigging a stand alone model. and most the video's I find on the subject are for Blender, the Daz one's I find are either for adjusting an already rigged model or for clothes. Kudo's to Sickleyeild for the video on rigging clothes.

    @Faeryl Womyn :

    I purchased it when it came out in 2012, and have used it  --  It might not fit your needs now as it is for Daz3d's award winning Tri-ax rigging (circa Genesis[1]), which they abandoned in subsequent Genesis versions rigging.

    Blondie did a terrific job with teaching how to rig for Tri-ax, though, and I found it easy to follow and replicate to success in rigging my own meshes, as well as modifying rigging utilizing the Transfer Utility for Tri-ax bases.

    Can you please tell me how old this product is and if it's still valid for use now.

    Should have asked this before buying it, such as finding out it's more then 10 years old.

    Yes I tried to use that code on the product page to find it but google search turned up nothing.

    Thanks Catherine, now I need to know if it's still valid today.

  • TRhreads merged - you can edit the first post to change the title, if you like, though I am not sure Dreanlight will see it.

     Ok I deleted the bookmark for the other thread. I do hope someone will come in and tell me if this product is still viable.

  • I don't have it, and can't comment with any authority, but having looked at the index, it covers a lot of what is covered in the tutorial I linked to, and extends beyond it. It also appears more modern. Dreamlight is a superb teacher. Given the way DS seems to accrete functions within a program version (eg 4.5 on), I'm sure everything mentioned is still there even if better tools have been added. Regards, Richard.

    Thanks Richard, I did open the files and took a quick peek at the video's, one of them seems to cover what I need so will do a test rigging using it and see if it works,
