Why are LIE makeup, etc so slow to load? Is there a way to speed them up?

Are you using the latest version of DS? I am sure I read that in this version (ie 4.21) they were speeded up since Genesis 9 uses them.

  • To see the speed up you need to go to Edit>Preferences (Daz Studio>Preferencse on a Mac) and in the Interface tab drag the Layered Textures:Compression slider rightwards (less compression, larger files - but faster to create - these are the temp files with a baked version of the LIE map).

Maybe somebody who owns it can tell?

ETA: This also should be able to be used as lie-baker according to the description:

  • While you could bake to a fixed format once (rathr than have DS do it on each load), with the nw option it's much less necessary - as long as you have enough space on your temp drive. However, that most obviously replies to frequently used combos, since it is going to increase the number of maps permanently on the drive.

@Richard Haseltine: Thankyou, yes, didn't think of the hd space that would swallow on the long run.

With tweaks in F2, as far as I experiment, not 100% sure but it seems that Public Build is a bit faster than General Release. Anyway, it's already faster than before...
