Filter setting in 3delight render settings disappears

I keep having an intermittent issue with the Filter settings under the 3delight engine in the Render settings tab. Every now and then it will just up and disappear from the list. I'm not sure why. I either have to merge a file that just has only Environment options and Tonemapper options. Or I have to exit Studio, relaunch and then reopen the file in question. What is causing that and how do I fix it?

Not sure what env/tonemapper options have to do with it, as they are IRay features, but do note that if you enable progressive rendering in 3Delight render editor, the pixelfilters will be disabled/bypassed.

I've had to add env/tonemapper options, because when I don't the renderer reverts to iRay even though I have it set for 3delight. I've not had the issue with the filters being bypassed.I guess I'll keep doing what I was doing to solve the issue cause that didn't help me. Thanks!

If you get an environment and tone mapping, you are in Iray mode unless I missed some Settings.

  • My understanding, environment and tonemapping were required regardless of the render engine. Thought I had read it somewhere. All I know is that when I didn't have it in the scene, DS wanted to revert to iRay when rendering. Maybe it was because of my light prop.

On another note, I stand corrected about the "progressive" thing. I decided to play with it and turn it off. Lo, and behold the filter option came back. Hadn't been an issue before. My default had been that both were available when I was setting up a scene. And then sporadically it would disappear. So, Sven, I apologize for my earlier statement. I stand corrected.

No worries! 3DL progressive rendering was added for quick previewing of your renders, so it actually bypasses much more than the pixelfiters. Not meant for final renders, as it will always have less (diffuse/specular/trace) depth and more noise.
