Recreating an old scene dforce not working.

So, I'm remaking an old scene that I lost, everything is almost an exact duplicate, only the model is different, and it's an adjusted version of the old one. I'm trying to so a simple sheet drop. I've hidden everything that doesn't need to collide with the sheet directly, I've even adjusted the settings to the following. •Gravity: 1.00 •Air Resistance: 0.15 •Initialization time 0.00 •Simulate from memorized pose: off •Stabilization time 1.00 •Frames to simulate: current frame •Frames per second (fps) multiplier: 1 •Subframes: 2 •Iterations (per subframes): 12 •Collision mesh resolution : base •Collision mode: Good - Discrete : Swept vertex •Collision iterations (per subframe) 1 Normally, I'd chalk it up to my weak computer, but as I've said I was able to simulate the previous versionn of this scene using the same machine. It won't even simulate the normal sheet drop example with low settings like this. It gets to 3% then locks up and becomes unresponsive and never resumes, forcing me to close the program. Any idea what to do here?

In quite a few cases, such an issue may not result from Sim. Settings but its mesh and dForce properties on its dynamic surface. Check them first, e.g. is the sheet with High Resolution... what's the dForce settings on its dynamic surface(s) , etc?

I'll check that. It's just odd that I was able to do this before but not now. I don't think I had to mess with the mesh settings last time. Edit: So, the sheet only has basic as an option for mesh resolution and its dynamic surface settings are •simulation base shape: Use Simulation start frame •freeze Simulation: off. I'm not sure what to change here. Also, I feel like I should note that I don't have any other programs running so I have as much memory available as possible. Edit: so I tried each if the four dynamic surface settings to no effect.

Well, I cant tell you that but you did help me find the problem. Apparently something is wrong with my Nvidia installation. It says my drivers are installed and up to date, but I can't get the Nvidia Control Panel to open to even see my graphics card specs, which I why I can't tell you. None of the fixes I found online helped either, including complete reinstalls of GeForce. As a result, I can't change my OpenCL device to GPU. So, I guess I just can't simulate anymore.

Oh, sorry to hear that. Not sure if you've tried DDU.. if not you may give it a try. DDU ever helped me to resolve Nvidia card / dirver issues for two times.

https://www.wagnardsoft.com/display-driver-uninstaller-DDU- ; It can 100% uninstall Nvidia drivers / remove residuals first before a fresh driver installation.

Thanks, but the driver is throwing up error 43, which from my research, more often than not indicated a physical problem with the graphics card. Since I've tried so many fixes and it didn't work, I have to assume that the card is physically damaged in some way. I'll try it though. After all, if the card is busted it's like it can make it worse.

Oh, the link isn't working. damn.

If it's a hardware issue on the card, that'll be troublesome. Try DDU first, if it can not work for you, better contact the reseller...

The thread added a wildcard to the link. NP ~ just go to the main page on - https://www.wagnardsoft.com/ and click DDU.

Well, I tried one more recommended "fix" and uninstalled the driver. But now when I try to reinstall it says it can't find an Nvidia GPU. Looking more and more like a hardware issue.

Well, check if can see the card  in BIOS with full information... or first open the computer case to check the card connection to the PCIE socket... etc.

I did manage to recover the original install and then use DDU to clear and create a new one, but still error 43. The card isn't showing in BIOS, and I'm not well versed in the mechanics of computer entering, so even opening the case I'd have no idea what to look for or where. I did open it anyway, but I didn't see anything that had an Nvidia logo on it, (even though I know for a fact that this machine has one, as I've been able to use the GPU CUDA for simulation before) so it must be enclosed or something. And in fact, I know it was working as recently as a few months ago because I was having a graphical issue cause by the latest driver version back in July that forced me to roll back the update.
