GPU not helping render?

I just become aware my computer is going very slow to render. So, I look at settings and they seem fine. Task Manager shoes no GPU help. Nothing has changed lately, same old graphics card, same version of Daz. I normally render very small things, not even full scenes, so maybe it always is this way?

Is there something else I need to check? I watched Task Manager as render processes and Daz never gets GPU assisting.

I made helpful attachment to show more details.

    Close the browsers and try again.

    It is hard to say without some more information. The most likely thing is you are running out of VRAM. If your scene exceeds VRAM the GPU will not render.

    But you also say old GPU, that could mean a lot of things, too. If your GPU is really old, it may not be supported by the Iray you have in Daz. There could also be a GPU driver issue.

    Can you render the forum benchmark scene on your GPU? (Link in my sig.)

    There can be other causes, but these are the most likely. But without knowing what your specs are, we can only guess.

    Maybe this help? I will try render other scene but what this tell us, some time will pass? Can you explain purpose?

    Edit: Went with link but not see anything can be downloaded? What must I find on that page?

    The included tools in Windows are not very good at monitoring GPU (add-on) activity.

    Try GPU-Z https://www.techpowerup.com/download/techpowerup-gpu-z/

    You should also have a look in the log (Help->Troubleshooting->View Log File)
    If the rendering has dropped to CPU, it will be mentioned in there, together with problems that may have an effect.

    I try GPU-Z but do not understand it. How can I see process use GPU?

    I look log file but I do not understand what to find? It show render complete I do not see problem.

    Attached a sample of GPU-Z monitor.

    Line 9, "Memory used" = Amount of GPU memory used (VRAM)
    Line 10, "GPU Load" = How hard the GPU is working

    Open the log, select everything on it (Ctrl + A), delete and close, when asked if you want to save, select yes.
    Close DS and wait a few minutes (5 minutes should be enough), open DS, load your scene and render.

    When the rendering has stopped or you have stopped it, open the log and save it somewhere you can easily find.

    Attach the log to your post and let us have a look.

    We have to know what hardware you have in order to help. If you have some very old GPU that would change everything, or if you have a tiny amount of VRAM. Like I explained earlier.

    Task manager doesn't report Daz using the GPU. However it does report using the CPU. I notice in your screen shot that it only shows the CPU running at 13.8%, which means the CPU is not rendering. If you were using the CPU to render, it would say 99% or 100%. That only leaves one possibility.

    So just by that alone, you have no other rendering device, so your 2080 Super has to be getting used. Otherwise the software would simply crash without any rendering device. Now you can get the hardware monitor that PerttiA mentioned, too, as it shows helpful status info on your GPU. It is good to have this regardless, and if there is a hardware problem, it can help spot it.

    Anyway, either your scene is more complex than you realize, or something is wrong. However, the odds are very high that the GPU is running correctly.

    Is this slow render in all of your scenes or is it just this scene? That could be anything. Like I suggested earlier, please try the scene in the benchmark thread. Why? Because running the benchmark will prove if your 2080 Super is working correctly. We can compare your results with other 2080 Super times in that thread. If it is anywhere close, the 2080 Super is fine.

    This link goes straight to the download, you might need to scroll up just a tiny bit.

    https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/341041/daz-studio-iray-rendering-hardware-benchmarking/p1#Section 5.2

    You need to follow the directions.

    https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/341041/daz-studio-iray-rendering-hardware-benchmarking/p1

    You download the scene, place it somewhere you can find it easily. This scene uses free content from Daz, most of it is in the Genesis 8 Female Starter Essentials. One piece of the outfit might need to be downloaded. If that outfit is reported as missing, go to your product library, search for "Daz Studio", and locate the Shadow Thief Outfit, again it is free. I screen capped this a while back showing where it is.

    You can load the benchmark scene and all you need to do is hit render. Then open up the help log, scroll to the bottom, and look for the lines that report the device statistics. It will look like this:

    2022-12-27 21:31:01.549 [INFO] :: Total Rendering Time: 4 minutes 34.57 seconds
    2022-12-27 21:34:21.293 Iray [INFO] - IRAY:RENDER ::   1.0   IRAY   rend info : CUDA device 1 (NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060): 1800 iterations, 0.690s init, 272.670s render

    Of course it will have your RTX 2080 Super listed. The time will be kind of similar to what my 3060 did. I would expect your 2080 Super to take anywhere from 4 to 5 minutes to finish the benchmark.

    If you don't mind, I would appreciate it if you can also share your benchmark time in the benchmark thread, we have not had a 2080 Super report for a long time, so I am curious how it compares now. This information can help you, too, as you can see how your 2080 Super compares to other people's GPUs. That can helpful if you decide to upgrade later on.
