The HD add ons are just Hi definition morphs.

depends on the set whether they add much to the character. some add subtle but noticeable details that may be useful in close ups.

Some are so subtle that many users can't see the difference. Once you add textures and bump or normal maps some of the HD morphs aren't really worth it. I would look at the example renders and see if you see anything noticeable, if not don't worry about them.
