Do you think [3d Universe's Sandy Bay Seaside Village] this model would work in a modern version of Daz? It looks like it is probably from the Daz 3 days or maybe even Daz 2. It has a mix of pp2 and Daz files. I know you'd probably want to replace textures with modern shaders but I'm still curious if it would work at all without perhaps needing some work like converting the file types or something.

I got this recently and thought I might as well try it out after reading your question and see how it looks. It comes with a pp2 file for the full scene for DAZ Studio specifically. I just did a very quick try and it works just fine I think, but for Iray, you first have to get rid of the Environment Sphere in the Lighting group in the Scene (first screenshot) otherwise the whole thing just renders black. I just used Sun-Sky and it seemed just fine! (Second screenshot shows Iray Preview with Sun-Sky lighting, after deleting the Environment Sphere. I also switched off the other Lighting stuff, but that was just for testing.) I also tried a regular day time HDRI and it looked great too.
It looks very nice. Since it's a toon set, I personally wouldn't even bother changing textures unless something seems really off. I might try out some test renders soon. Hope this helped!
It looks quite nice. For some reason I was under the impression PP2 files don't load into Daz anymore so I wasn't sure it'd actually load into a current version of Daz Studio at all. Changing the textures with architecture shaders or just converting the existing ones to Iray Uber would probably work and had occured to me. As had getting rid of the sky dome and any Poser lights it uses. I'd probably replace the Sky Dome with an HDRI.
the scaling is terrible though for populating it with carts/cars etc
toony people you may be able to
So the one that's got the glow around it contains all the packs that are to it's right?
Yes, everything in those packs, and then some, like the grounds, cameras and skydome, and a couple more props, like the lighthouse and the watertower.
pp2 and other poser files definitely still work in recent versions of DS (with the same limitations as before).
I have the bundle, surprise! it's by 3DU, and it works fine.
For a scene set like this one that's smaller in scale than normal Daz characters and props, an easy fix would be to make a new Group in the Scene tab, lasso everythng that constitutes the scene, drag that into the Group (making sure you have things set to parent-in-place), then simply resize the Group upwards so that it matches the scale of the regular Daz characters.
still cannot put even toon cars in it because the scale of the roads and bridges are totally out of whack
as a pedestrian and maybe bicycle town it could work
Actually, it was another merchant I was thinking of when I said that thingy about the toon scene being smaller scale than normal, so I'm not sure if we were talking about the same thing when you said the scale was out of wack. I had bought 3DJoji's BeachCorner, and when I rezzed the set and placed some more recent cartoon characters in it, I discovered that that entire beach scene was at something like 50% scale or 60% scale or something off the wall like that. It's like they were standing around in a scale model of a beach resort!
edit: Okay, I see what you mean now. Looking at the building next to that little road with the trafffic-stripes, I notice that, judging by the size of the door in the building, the road looks like it's expecting kids peddle-cars instead of motor-vehicles, and I'm not even sure if the peddle-cars would fit on it..
The older products are influenced by the lack of (real) standard scale in Poser
Are you talking about:

yes
videos I did
Nice videos, Wendy.
You got even waterfall and water moving.
By the way, I have stopped using Automatic 1111 and started with ComfyUI.
Works much better with XL and my Nvidia graphics card with 8 GB of VRAM.
Finally can create much bigger images (even more than 1920*1200).
I like A1111 but it stopped working on my PC
my AMD iGPU is apparently the issue, it won't see my Nvidia CUDA
am beyond frustrated so creating weird insert mesh curve brushes in Zbrush instead and keep crashing it
is this a highjack or a derail?
Yeah I think it is
