This is infuriating, I have to turn off my Firewall when I update DIM!

The reason is that I'm forced to turn off my firewall because I cannot add the bloody remote server's address to my exceptions list, so every time I forget this fact, I end up having to reinstall the program as I have to KILL the broken update process as it doesn't have a cancel button, and as such it ends up disrupting the install so much so that I have to reinstall! At the very LEAST you could have added a cancel button!
On the bright side, I LOVE the forum improvement to posting, I don't have to switch to source mode whenever I want to spell check!

Is there a particular reason you can't add another server to the exceptions list?
Is this LINUX or other UNIX like system? In UNIX like systems you often can edit daemon processes config files and then send a sighup to the daemon and it will reread its now updated configuartion files and restart, Windows you can use task manager to restart a process after you edit it's configuration files (but in Windows I have never tried such, in UNIX I have done the edit config/sighup too many times to count).
I just mostly leave mine at Windows defaults and don't check up on it usually but my phone and local devices keep getting broke into and I know they replace and edit binaries, certificates, and firewall settings and stuff and also even GUI appearance to try and hide the fact they've done that. For that reason, I am going to try SNORT as I saw that is what CISCO integrated into some of their network hardware. Eventually I will buy the Merika CISCO network hardware and the subscription, but first I will play with SNORT. It's multiplatform if you aren't already using it and are curious. On one hand I feel I should stay vanilla on my devices and force platform vendors to harden security and proactively repair hacked systems (long ways a ways), but on the other hand, I've gotten to the point where I'm bored, don't want to wsait for them to do that, and want to try something more interesting and more effective than what the platform vendors are doing now, so SNORT it is.
Likewise, I want mechnical car window cranks and other mechanical failsafe systems on automobiles. All electric and all digital is not realiable or secure enough and can be outright dangerous. I spoke with the US Federal NHTSA about mandating mechanical window cranks as backups and they said they'd look but that's been almost a decade ago and nothing. They have the data.
Where, and what is the Daz server's address?
