Has anyone rigged the B.E.T.T.Y. Sleigh and a full team of 8 Horse 3 Reindeer?

I am losing what's left of my mind trying to get 8 ( though I would prefer 9 ) reindeer rigged to this sleigh. I think it would look awesome to have the full team and to be able to pose them as a set. I have the sleigh, the reindeer, the reigns and the poses. I just can't seem to put the reigns in the correct place and orientation. I am now to the point where I would be willing to dig into my Christmas fund to get this done. Unless it has been done and I just can't find it? So, has anyone rigged a full team? Willing to share or sell?

  • its the sort of thing you might have to kitbash using cylinder primitives and multiple sets of the existing reins, and maybe something like mesh grabber

I'm not at home where I can verify but I think it would help to have this posing product, it made a concept I did a while back easier to manage though I didn't do 8 Reindeer. https://www.daz3d.com/santas-reindeer-poses-for-reindeer-sleigh-reigns-and-nikolai-9

I have that product. It's where I got the reigns from. I'll have another look. I just can't seem to get things to go in the right direction. I have never done horses, or reindeer before and I'm not even real sure where everything hooks up. Or is suppose to hook up. I'm sure, in time, I can get this. It's just time is short and I'd rather get this for this year, and not next year. Yep. My fault. Should have started in July!

Nothing really hooks up. You just kind of fake it. Photoshop really helps too for cheating. I might have warped the reins a bit or extended them. Remember too you're creating 2D art. Things don't have to connect, just look like they connect depending on your actual view or camera.

Kind of what I was thinking but I was hoping there was a better solution. Thanks for your input though. Much appreciated.

Hm. I don't mind kit-bashing and I've tried just hooking up a team of 4 and it just doesn't ever look 'right' to me.
Mesh grabber ... hm ... I do have that and never thought about trying it for something like this. I may go play with that later tonight and see what happens. Thanks for the thought!

meh, I am having enough trouble trying to animate one reindeer pulling the sleigh

the hierachial poses look great but are all facing different directions

uhm FBX exports vary between apps and DAZ studio considerably

  • I ran into this just a couple of days ago as I started the Christmas story, for which the attached image is the very first panel.

There are some things which are worth doing exactly right and this is not one of them :P I got something that looked reasonably convincing (bearing in mind that final page size for these panels is only 960x960 pixels anyhow) and said that was good enough.

  • i found cases like this, and reigns in particular, very troublesome to pose correctly. i am always struggling. and as i do it for 3d and not 2d art (most of the time),
kitbashing the picture is not an option.

However, i do have hope: on black friday i purchased the 2 products shown below. i got hopes, that it is going to make things a lot easier. (maybe in addition with another product that helps sticking things together-was it limbsticks?)
anyways...  though i have not had time to play around with these, they do look promising:
