Hi again, Lovely knowlegable people! smiley

I am having trouble understanding how things work now. And one thing I'm struggling with is how to find and organize my stuff. I am wanting to put this in a format that I can understand. My stuff doesn't show in the Content Library unless I go directly to the alphebetical Products tree. But it is really hard to find things that way. I want to organize things but I don't want to break anything. What's my best option here?

    How are you installing?

And if you in a file browser go to C:/Users/Public Documents/My Daz 3D Library/People/Genesis/ do you then see a Genesis.duf?

You can hoover over your Genesis figure in the Product area and see where they are.

  • I installed by using the install tab within Daz Studio because nothing was showing in the DIM unless I manually sent it to the DIM. I was starting fresh and reinstalling everything after being gone for a few years so I wanted to just get everything in there as easy as possible with plans to organize it afterwards... So now I'm at that stage. The organization stage. But... When I go to look at the files in my pc, they're just numbered folders. I can't imagine how I would even recognize what they are. They really only show consistently in the Product tree
  • OKAY!! Well...

I just started the DIM and it did something and now I see a bunch of stuff that needs to be installed, some of which I thought was already installed. So... If I let the DIM install it will it be in there twice? I'm so confused! I had everything organized in a Poser-y way before. I was trying to this RIGHT! LOL. Embrace the Studio format and all that! But, I'm so confused!!!

If you are installing through Daz Studio it will be installed through Daz Connect, and will be installed on a different path than through DIM. So if you install it using both methods, you will have it installed twice.

And if you have something installed with Connect, it will take priority whether the installation works or not. How Connect installaitions are visible in Content Library, I do not know.

You should only install using one method.

In the forum you will see a number of post where people having issues with Connect. There are some things that cannot be installed with Connect (and work). Many go for DIM installation, some go for Connect. I must say I prefer DIM.

  • So... Should I uninstall everything?

You should decide which method you will use for installation.

If you have installed something with DIM, I would assume, it should be visible in Content Library, but it might not work if it is also installed with Connect.

My suggestion is to uninstall what you have installed with Connect, and use DIM. But that is my preference.

If you decide to use DIM, there is no need for logging into Daz Studio.

  • Okay... (sigh) I was told by someone already that the DIM was the preferred method, but by that time I had already installed almost everything through Daz Studio so I was hoping it would be okay... But I guess I will just start over with the DIM because honestly, that seems easier, maybe. Okay, thank you for your help! :)

Daz Connect should work, although often not for plugins.

But I think Connect only populates Smart Content, and not the ordinary Content Library.

I had used it, by mistake, on some products, and that caused me some work to sort out.

Well I'm starting over anyway, so I expected some hiccups, honestly. Lol I thought I was close to being able to play!!! Oh well. So, I begin again... Wish me luck! And thank you again! :)

    OMG! I'm losing my mind.

Okay so I went to start over. And accidentally uninstalled Daz Studio 4.21. Went ahead and installed the update because I couldn't find it.... And some of my stuff shows up in the DIM but not all of it. And I can't figure out how or where to install the stuff that won't go to the DIM.

Sorry to be such a PITA, but I could really use some help. How do I get the DIM to download Aiko 3? I don't see a way to get it into my DIM

    I don't have Aiko3.

But in DIM, click the gear-icon in upper right corner > Advanced > Downloads. In order to show Aiko 3 I would assume you have to tick Poser 9-/9+ (?) to show as available.

Theer is also the Download Filters button at top-left.

    Your third image...

... is entirely expected behaviour, as normally DS does not display contents of sub-folders (that would be a hugely cluttered mess), and nothing is normally going to be in the FIgures folder directly.

My DS does exactly the same, but there's still plenty of things when I go looking in the sub-folders of Figures.

  • Okay, so I did that. And it installed... kinda. It says the file doesn't exist. But it does exist. What am I doing wrong?

It's so weird. If I right click on the thumbnail it will take me to the folder. I can click on the .cr2 within that folder and it will open up in Sudio. But clicking on that same thumbnail inside studio to open it and it says it doesn't exist.

I've checked the path spelling. I don't see an error. I'm so confused???crying

1 Are files selected or Products you can search for items in a product, and in products search by product names

2 See All Products at top of empty pane, click on Default, this pulls down the list by category

3Is Filter by Context box checked, if so, uncheck it

4 see gray bar under the product icons
    Installed, Available Update Pending
Click on the Installed tab, the Smart pane will show you
products installed  by DIM or Daz Connect.

see the red dots on the image--I have made all the errors above, the most likely to baffle you is the check box Filter by Context. If you don't have anything selected, then nothing will be found

Hi! Yeah... I'm sure I'm confusing everyone now. That image... was before I decided to start over and uninstall everything, ended up with the new Daz Studio and decided to try to install using the DIM.

So far I must say... I had better luck getting things to install when I was using Studio 4.21 and the Daz connect "Install" tab than I am using the DIM so far...

except I couldn't find my stuff that way. Once I added everything to my Filters in the DIM, I started seeing more of my stuff in there. So, good.

So now the DIM does install things where I can find them, but I'm having trouble getting everything to work.

BUT (so weird) I removed the word "Daz" from the folder that was named "Daz Aiko 3" - both in the program and the file location itself - and now it works for some reason...

I don't get it, but I'm glad it works.

Thanks to everyone that is helping me! heart

I thought it would be easier to keep all my questions in one thread, but I'm sure I'm just confusing people who are trying to help me. LOL

So, I will mark this one solved and make a new one if I struggle anymore.

    THANK YOU AGAIN EVERYONE!! heart
