Test:   On a Windows computer Press the Windows Key and [.] (that's the period key) for an emoji pop-up.

Result - those emoji's don't work in this forum. <shrug>

I didn't know about that, and I'm excited to use it for everything but emojis.

    Face Without Mouth emoticon

  • I will confess that it's very rare for me to write in emojis or explanation marks. However, there is little penalty to having more. Regards, Richard.

I would prefer it if I could finally use the 'normal' emojis in this forum instead of more of these really old-fashioned, clunky things.

Writing in Emojis is like some personalised number plates, only a few people know what they are supposed to say the rest of us have no idea :)

They're like modern heiroglyphs! smiley Sometimes an emoji, like a heart can say things I might not have the words for. They just sum up all the thoughts and feelings I can't always put into words.

The Egyptians tried that.  Worked for a while but then they discovered that if you used the symbols as sounds instead of ideas, it was a lot more flexible and extendible.  Yes more emojis permit more subtle meanings, but there's a point of diminishing returns as the table of emojis grows unwieldy.frown

Remember, the definition of "Communication" is "An exchange of mutually understood symbols".  Where "mutually understood" is the operative phrase.indecision

Regardless.  Yes, we need a few more emojies.yes  The ones mentioned are OK, but I sometimes have occasions where I want an <OMG you didn't just say that did you?>  Or a <what were they thinking?>   i.e. a <rolling eyes> emoji.enlightened

Hmmm, what's the singular of emoji, emojum?surprise

maybe daz forums have reached their absolute emoji emojum-max in which case the devs could just swap capital letters and punctuation marks for more emojis since we dont use them much anywayenlightened

I think emoji can be singular or plural, but I have also seen emojis used as plural, but honestly, I don't know for sure! smiley

I'm not sure why DAZ has those HIDIOUS emoticons.  Why can't they just implement the emoticon data base that most forums, phones and everything else the world uses?  I speak in emoticon too and really really hate having to use these ugly and limited ones here.

I think they are part of the forum software.

I'm sure there must be a way to change the code to something more to what the end users are requesting.  Most forum software is quite modular
