A Punch Card Sale? *sigh*

They just keep trying, don't they? Fortunately most of them, so far, haven't lasted very long.

Admittedly, if they are going to continue as they've started out with releasing the alternative shapes for existing characters, which were formerly only available for a limited time -- and only if your bought the full Pro bundle, I could see any number of people taking advantage of the offer. Particularly at a 51% discount. There were several G9 bases where I just picked up the base.

And a Thorne doll at $2.99 isn't an awful deal either. This one has any number of included morpphs which might be useful.

It will be at least worth checking in daily to see what is on offer, anyway.

I wonder if they're going to put the "vaulted" shaped up for sale besides the ones that are offered in the older Pro Bundles. I literally just sent the sales dept a complaint about how dumb limited time alternate shapes are.

I want to get the Olympia ones but I'm bad at math so I'm a bit consfues. If I buy something for like 1.10 then separately buy the alt shapes, will it be chaper with the 1.10 I had to spend for the added D+ discount or is it cheaper to just get the shapes and ignore the punch card thing?

(I can't check myself, I have yet to activate the punchcard discount, but it should work like this)

If you only buy the shapes, it will cost you $9.79.

If you buy something before, the punch card will save you $1.4685 (9.79 x 0.15 = 1.4685), so as long as the product you bought to activate the punchard is priced between $1.00 and $1.4685, it's cheaper to bought it then the shapes.

  • I wonder how I can see the state of my punch card. I just bought something from my wishlist for more than 1$, however the punchcard at the daily page still shows three locks.

In the past, you got the added discount the next day.

  • I bought the Thorne Doll

I parted with 1K AUD today for a 20month old cat I ended up having euthanased anyway

I would have spent another 2K if he could have lived a good life but as it was it would have been much more with no reassurance it wouldn't happen again and again

I can splurge a little bit on a cute DAZ character

  • *hugs Wendy* crying

I picked up the Thorne Doll too I liked the morphs she comes with smiley

I would really appreciate being able to buy some of the vaulted alt shapes as well, especially Amelia. Well, we'll see how it goes!

I spent many years rescuing feral cats. It never was easy choice and those weren't my pets. Although it hurts so much now, it really was the right decision.

I don't remember DAZ doing such deep discounts on previous generations so soon after their launch. It make me wonder if sales volume has declined so much and the hope that Genesis 9 would be a saviour has not panned out.

I did buy a LOT of Gen 8 stuff during the October/November sales due to the deep discounts. Hopefully, DAZ other revenue streams will carry them through the next 8 months of recession.

Another explanation is that the new generation is more expensive. The more expensive the product, the deeper discounts you can offer while still earning more money.

For example (for easy math, I'm not pulling any actual prices from the store), if G9 core figure is 40$, and G8 is $20, this means that the same 75% discounts still gets double the money on G9 than it did on G8.

Sending hugs from far away in the USA. crying It hurts so much to lose the young ones. It has been four years since I had to say goodbye to a four-month-old foster fail with an incurable condition; there's still a raw place in my heart for him.

You're trying to apply logic to a Daz marketing strategy. That's your first mistake. :p As for the punch sale, it means I won't be making any purchases. You'd think Daz would have learned its lesson on doing that by now.

  • Wendy, I am so sorry your fleabag couldn't be saved. I know where you're coming from about how much you'd be prepared to spend on your family members. We have an 18yo domestic fleabag called 'Squeaky' (looks like the Oso house cat) who's now got 3 large wart size growths come up in a month. Unfortunately, the vet has refused to operate on him in the past because of failing kidneys. We're just spoiling him rotten in the little time he has left. Regards, Richard.

Daz actually excluded Genesis 9 items from a lot of sales earlier in the year, so you could read the runes either way - or some other way entirely.

I don't really bother with reading the runes. Either something's at the price I'm willing to buy it, or it's not. How much of a discount it is becomes somewhat irrelevant then. And ultimately, the way Daz works is "there's always another sale", and things will drop to prices I'm willing to pay for them. Some just require more patience than others. ;)

I was just providing a perspective that there are more possible reasons for discounts other than the usual "G9 is not selling". :)

  • Punch cards?  When in doubt, go with the pricing strategy of submarine sandwich shops.  How many Daz content licenses do I need to buy before I can get a large turkey-and- cheese?

Yes, it's always some sort of discounting.  Tokens disappear and are instantly replaced by the punch card.  Lower threshold to earn a discount ($1 per day) with the punch card, so it probably has more appeal to a cheapskate like me than the spend-to-save "logic" of tokens.

  • I know you can't use punch card discounts to buy gift cards, but do you get punches on such purchases?

I try, every darned day, to be as cool-headed as you are! LOL

I get so dog-gone infuriated at times!!! Yikes!!! Hey Dart... it's just a Sale! Calm Down Already!!!

I only have locks on my punch card. I've bought several things, but I don't have any Loyalty Rewards yet.

EDIT:  Okay, this is the next day now and one of my locks unlocked with 15% off. I don't know how this works, though. Does this discount automatically kick in, becuse I don't see a promo codo to use.

From what I understand from the Sales Issue Reporting Thread (Hot New (Northern) Season, New Sales Thread: Report Issues Here "Reporting Only"), we won't see our locks change until Daz 3d's tomorrow, when our card is either punched or not, depending upon whether or not we spent more than a dollar.

I bought something just to try it out. But I think I'm really going to like what I bought. We'll see when I can actually try it out! :)

As Darthanbeck said, the discounts for purchases unlocks the next day.

It's also worth noting that last year multiple purchases during the day still counted as one punch in the card: the punch card was about daily purchases, not about multiple purchases per day. So you'll likely see only one punch today.

  • I have made several purchases, yesterday and today and still no punch card rewards..... No time and date for when it starts or ends. I keep checking and nothing. This has not been the first time that DAZ has posted perks and not delivered or botched the sales text. The fist day the punch on the sales add said 15% on my punch but no discount at purchase, today only locks. The e market guys aren't paying attention. Very unprofessional.

Today's purchases (if you mean Daz' Tuesday) will not be counted until tomorrow. It is Saturday, Sunday, and Monday that should count.

  • As 'spected my 'punch' [in the face] is going exactly the same way as all those tokens I never quite got because I spent under $10 in a week. The punch 'll have evaporated by tomorrow because I'm not making a purchase of anything else I don't really want today.

    Regards,

    Richard

Off topic but reminded me of this non-fiction book, which was quite good. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Victorian_Internet

  • I used to get punch cards at coffee shops. I'd forget, and get new ones, which never got punched all together on a single card. I don't go for gimmicks and I may or may not achieve, daily purchases to fill a DAZ card,  either.

I think the punch cards, bonus discount point collections must be working.

...I've actually filled several of those out and redeemed them (unabashed coffeeholic here).
