Say, I saw a short video about Tafi being at a convention. They had Daz 3d t-shirts and stickers and stuff.
How can we get our hands on that stuff? I want some coffee mugs, t-shirts, sweatshirts (gets cold in Wisconsin) stickers, maybe a banner or flag....

Great question. I'd buy some Daz3D Logo merch if it were available.
Nice Tafi girls at a convention. I saw them. They looked great! Tafi stuff and Daz 3d stuff. Rosie wants some too and so does our daughter!
I imagine it requires some sort of shipping system that DAZ isn't interested in getting into... Technically, it's not as hard to get into that sort of thing anymore as it used to be, since there are services that can handle it for you (a friend's company wanted to dabble in some promo merch, but didn't want to handle it themselves, but I've forgotten the particulars... apparently they did a limited run of merch and it worked out well)...
DAZ has fans, and it's kinda helpful to a brand to sell merch as you are literally being paid by customers for them to advertise for you... but I suppose word of mouth and folks stumbling onto the site is good enough...?
I personally think it would have been cool, but I don't think I'm as into the idea as I used to be... I think few years ago I'd have been into getting some stickers, a coffee mug or a sweatshirt, but not so much anymore... maybe I've become less of a fan over time.
Back in the day when DAZ ran a site called "Artzone" there was merch available. But warehousing merch and shipping costs proved it to be not a cost effective project. So they went back to what they do best and focus on the software itself.
With print-on-demand and better shipping options they have now, it could likely be doable, but really, I prefer daz focusing on software
They could parner with the kinds of sites YouTubers use to make their swag. They just design the stuff and upload them. The partner sight handles shipping production everything. A lot of them, they even host the store.
I would TOTALLY buy a Tshirt and a mug (if it was a LARGE 16-20 oz mug)
I admit that I would buy a nice Daz sweatshirt. It's an excuse to ask me what Daz is and I love talking about creating art. But I work for a software company myself, so I get what RawArt is saying - Daz does software and especially in tight economic times, they should be focusing on their real business.
I use to have a DAZ cap that I got on Artzone. I'd like to get some cool, new merch myself. I remember being at work almost 7 yeas ago and a guy walked in with a Renderosity Tshirt. We statred chatting about 3D and software and are still friends to this day.
I'm dying here. For the number of people in this thread who say they WOULD buy DAZ merch if it were available, has anyone thought about being 'that person that asked DAZ for permission ?licensing? to generate and sell DAZ merch'? With Print-on-Demand it could LITERALLY be as simple as uploading some DAZ logos and let people choose the swag they want it on. Cart it, ship it and BAM! When your swag arrives you are one of the cool kids. Start a thread for people to post pictures of themselves wearing their DAZ merch at home, at work, during travel, even in unusual locations. In short order you retire and remember where this amazing idea came from, and send that person a DAZ Gift Card for their idea. (That's me! I'm the one!)
As long as the DAZ logo is treated with respect and dignity it should all be good! (And if DAZ wants a slice of the pie they could offer some sort of Gift Card, or store discount if you purchase over a certain dollar amount. We all KNOW DAZ just LOVES their sales games!)

I still have two of the old T-shirts, one with Aiko 3 and the other with Hiro 3, that I picked up at a convention back in the V3 days. That was the original DAZ management, of course, and I'm surprised that they were at a convention somewhere, as the last time I'd seen a DAZ booth was back in 2012, I think, and it was manned by PAs instead of DAZ staffers.
Daz 3d wasn't there, and it had nothing to do with CG.
I'm not sure what you meant to say there, but first 1.) I was referencing two different conventions, so I'm not sure which one you're saying wasn't DAZ, and 2.) Both conventions definitiely included GG as part of their focus. The first convention, where I picked up the AIko and Hiro shirts at the DAZ Booth, was AnimeExpo in 2006 and DAZ corporate was most certainly there as I had a business meeting with Dan Farr, founder and then head of DAZ, where we talked about the upcoming V4 among other things. DAZ's participation with that convention is even specifically referenced in the verbiage for the Aiko 3.0 megabundle - The second convention I referenced was SIGGRAPH 2012 which is most certainly a CG focused convention, and while DAZ had a booth, it was manned entirely by PAs - there's a thread in the forum covering that event in which Ken Gilliand explained in reference to a photo of DAZ staff at SIGGRAPH 2010 "That was the last year the DAZ brass went, but they did purchase a booth in 2012 before the changing of the guard, and decided not to go. I, with a small group of SoCal local DAZ PAs, volunteered and ran it that final time. The new heads of DA did show up, informally there, one day of the show. Besides me, I remember DAZ PAs Ryverthorn, Nerd3D, and Phoenix1966 running the booth." As it happened, that was one of the rare SIGGRAPHs I've attended (it's dates are usually too close to the dates for the San Diego Comic-Con), but I'd picked up a free pass via Renderosity, so I met most of those PAs as well as someone who I only recall being introduced as the new boss.

Me too. In fact, I want several. I wear mine out so quickly, and I still accidentally use the ones I like the most!
I can't remember if it was 2012 or 2013 but Dan Farr WAS at Siggraph (LA) and he got me a pass to get in and showed me the Genesis 1 prototype on his laptop. It still had not been released or shown anywhere at that point and I remember being freaked out that Poser wouldn't be supported anymore. Dan invited me to a group Daz dinner with both staff and PAs. The last day, the Daz staff left early with their signage and the PAs were manning the booths and seemed really disgruntled, I'm guessing about Genesis and Poser. The head of marketing from Poser/Smith Micro put a big Poser sign where the Daz sign had been and everyone found that funny for some reason. The whole thing was very strange.After that I saw Dan Farr on his own walking around at Comic Conventions and now he's doing Salt Lake Comic-Con.;)
Re merch, technically anyone could put the Daz logo (for private use only) on Zazzle and order a personal copy of a mug or whatever. Of course you can't sell anything but if it's just going to sit on your coffee table at home, it seems like that would be fine, but I'm not a lawyer...
If you let a 3rd party handle the merch it is easy extra money for almost no effort. But it isn't even about that, IMO. People wearing your logo are walking billboards, which can be worth way more than whatever the profits on the merch are. That kind of advertising can be priceless. Considering the types of customers seen here, a simple tshirt could lead to a conversation with a friend, or a curious passerby decides to search what Daz3D is.
Not that I would wear one, that's not my thing. But I do believe lack of merch is a major missed opportunity. Just get a 3rd party with experience and let them handle it instead of using your own resources. You don't even need a warehouse these days, they can produce small batches quickly on demand.
It would also be cool to sell real model kits of "famous Daz core models." That stuff could be sold at any sort of hobby store with any theme. And...these can be your best advertisement for the 3D print plug in ever. The shopkeeper leans over and tells the customer "Hey bro, you like this model kit of Victoria in a metal bikini swinging a sword? Well guess what, YOU can make your own custom one to print!" And the customer is taken aback. "Whhooaaa, seriously?! These Daz cats are so fly!"
It would go just like that. The fellow frolics back to his place and embarks on his Daz indoctrination journey. One of us!!!

I like strong coffee, but most of the coffee I drink is not. I just have a lot of it, which is why I don't make it that strong - most of the time.

..Daz did tie up with a 3D printing service for a while. The downside was it was rather expensive and there was a fragility issue that sometimes didn't handle shipping very well
I wonder if DAZ would have a problem with printing our own merch for personal use. This site lets you design one offs

They probably can't allow others to use their trademark, as trademarks have ti be actively defended lest they lapse (not an issue with copyright).
