Clean Sci-Fi Shaders

I bought Clean Sci-Fi Shaders (https://www.daz3d.com/clean-sci-fi-shaders) by Censored two days ago.  I know how to apply shaders and change tiling, etc. but on the product page are the following two sentences.

  • Clean Sci-Fi Shaders make up a brilliant selection of ceilings, floors, and walls for users to enjoy as they create their unique sci-fi-inspired renders.

The ceilings, floors and walls are actually shaders to be applied to surfaces.  No problem with that.

  • Not only that, but the CSFS walls are designed to be linkable together with shared columns for a unified but varied look.

I’ve not been able to figure out what the PA means by the walls being linkable via shared columns since no wall props come with the shaders.

Does anyone have any experience with this product that can shed some light on the subject?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi there,

The part in the description was in reference to the fact that, as they are all shaders, the ones listed as "wall" all have different designs, however, the sides of each wall shader are the same across the set, meaning you could seamlessly use "Wall A" with "Wall B" for example.

    I hope this helps,

Sounds Awesome! I'm checking them out! Thanks!

Wow! Killer Product! I'm getting it!

More cool examples where these came from. Wow... the displacement and Emissions! Very cool!!! Looks like we could just apply these to primitives and they'd look Great!

Oh... right. I have Censored's City Buildings Shaders Vol 1 in my wish list as well!

That detective bundle looks awesome too

    Censored,

Thanks for your fast reply.  I'll continue to explore the shaders more to try to get something close to the effect that you got in the product promotional image below.

    Dartanbeck,

I'm doing just that but I need to experiment more to try to get closer to the results in Censored's promotional image above.

Too bad you missed the Shaders when they were on sale last week.  I used my last two tokens on it hours before tokens went away at the end of the day on Sunday.

The city building shaders are awesome. They bring new life to older, but still awesome, sets like the older Greeble City Blocks.

Awesome! Can't wait to get them!

I just bought the Clean Sci-FI Shaders just now because I need them for an animtion - right now.

Just recently (currently?) Daz + members got this for free: FH Warehouse Room - and I was commenting on how much I Love sets like this that look cool as a background, yet have virtually no polygon count to speak of. Before I even try these new shaders on primitives, I'm going to see how they look on this. It's like a perfect example, I think.

There are a lot of cool environment kits at Daz 3d that I coolect for speed rendering. I always add some sort of effect between it and the Character renders in Fusion anyway. This will be fun!!!

I would be interested in seeing what you make with the combination. I hope you enjoy the shaders.

The comment about the primatives actually answers your question as well, as to create this image my render artist used high-poly primatives made in Daz Studio, to prove the shaders could be used with minimal modelling knowledge. It's important to remember that the displacment maps require a lot of polys to work, as they can only displace what geometry they have to work with. And to save on memory I belive instances of the objects were used as well.

    I hope this helps,

    Censored,

Thanks for the "secret sauce" info about the polygon count!!  That's the element that I was missing in my experimentation.  I was using a simple primitive plane or product wall that had only one or minimal polygons.

Busily rendering animations for a reel - so I didn't even have a chance to try my new Clean Sci-Fi Shaders yet.

I just used my awesome Punch Card and bought those cool City Building Shaders too!

Sorry I got them for such a deal. They're too excellent for that. But I'm too poor to get them any other way - so something is Always better than nothing, Right? ;)

I'm happy you like the shaders regardless, hopefully you enjoy using them.

    I really do!

I'm super busy animating and preparing for some webinars coming up or I'd render what I was practicing. They turned out really cool, but were just tests messing around.

I didn't get to the building shaders yet but I had floors, walls and ceiling up and running!

I used 10 meter planes at 300 divisions. If I wanted more displacement, I've found that the surface SubD works, but I'd imagine that I could also just add SubD to the plane itself - but... Wow! I love how you've made the illusion of lights under grids like that! Bravo!!! Looks Stunning!

I can't wait to try the buildings!!!
