How many DAZ scenes do you have saved.

As of this moment, I am up to 11,187

116 GB in 4 folders, usually corresponding with the version of DS that was used. That may end up being much less soon since I just ordered a new PC and if history is any indication, the file paths and install will probably break these saved scene like they have done in the past.

  • Maybe 200? I render and delete most.

You don'tsave the work that you do?

  • I save customized figure bases that I think I'm going to use more than once in my stories, and once in a while I save a set that I know I'm going to reuse, especially if it was a very long setup job and/or a huge kitbash, but mostly the policy is "don't keep anything I don't think I'm going to need again," just for space reasons if nothing else.

If a particular recurring character is, say, a straight load of Latonya 8 with no alterations, I don't save a base, I just keep a line in my notes that says "this character is straight Latonya" and maybe some notes about hair used, etc. But if they've got a lot of tinkering, I save the base so I won't have to remember what I did. A lot of my characters are custom mixes of several figures.

I have a much smaller number of custom sets. Mostly I keep notes like "such-and-such lives in the Architect's Penthouse set," and don't need more than that.

What I don't like deleting is the RENDERS. I keep pretty much all of those.

I never use a figure as is from the store. They are all just part of the gene pool for when I create a character for a particular scene i am working on. I save every WIP, sometimes at various stages of development. I also like to go back and revisit a scene when I am not feeling very creative and also apply new techniques, products or ideas I have learned since i saved it.

  • Yeah. The ones I use straight out of the box tend to be only for "walk-on" parts. I don't take the time to customize when I'm filling the scene with extras.

I am experimenting on ways to use various elements that come with characters, but I don't use the characters themselves. I save almost everything, theoretically to see my path as I try new ideas.

He's a Genius Carrara Artist! Doesn't use Studio, I don't think. Not for rendering and save at least.

Myself, 193GB since 07/27 2023 - this year. In all fairness, I'm doing animations with simulated Mesh hair. Takes up some room. But I can't quit! I just keep making more!

Prior to that date, I was dangerously low on space so I bought an 8GB HDD to hold me over until I can get more. In my own stupidity, I suffered a complete data wipe of everything before then. Probably about 1.5TB+ of saved DS scenes... lost in the ether for good! :(

I just took as a good sign to move forward. I've been happy starting over from scratch.

  • about 1K at most, I mostly save characters and scene subsets as rarely redo a scene

About 25 or so, but those are Scenes/ subsets I use repeatedly for setting up larger reference scenes for my 2D artwork . Once the 2D piece is done I delete the reference scence I made in DAZ.

    Four

    1 for rendering thumbnails

1 for creating cards for morphs

    1 for testing 3DL shaders

    1 for testing Iray shaders

  • Certainly in the tens of thousands, but I'm not counting. I generally never delete, just redundant save to portable storage. so since 2008...   they're adding up.

6.4 GB though there are more of the older ones on the external HDD

I do wipe out older ones every now and then but keep all the scene sets I made for the comic

there is another worth of 2.6 GB Scene Subsets
