Is it worth it?

Is it worth to sell a model if you are not a PA? Or it is more profitable to sell renders? I would like to hear your experience. I'm having second thoughts about selling. Thank you in advance and sorry for my English.
Here is my DeviantArt link with some of my models.

You have great character modeling skills for sure but you should post Wireframes on DA to show you use good topology.
You may want to migrate away from obvious WOW and DC comics/Movie stuff though.

  • Is it a full model, or is it a character for a Genesis or other base figure?

I am assuming that is just a morph for a Genesis model, so showing the topography would be pointless  The Henry Cavill model looks pretty good.

Those characters are for Genesis 9. I thought it could be easier to sell. I used to make my own character, I know how to make a good topology, but those are difficult to sell. How is your experience? Do you sell models, pictures, both? For what I see on DeviantArt people prefer to sell pictures, so I guess it's not worth to sell models?

people sell models on daz store, renderosity, renderhub, artstation, gumroad, 3dshards, patreon, bunch of other places. I guess they do that because they are monetarily incentivised.

not sure why you conclude that just because people dont sell them directly on deviantart that means people dont find it worthwhile to sell characters elsewhere.

The store(s) you sell on would likely impact how much money you make as some would be more popular and have bigger audience than others.

It seems like if you wanted to make money, make female characters and lingerie...

No brainer, my friend! Sell your characters at Daz 3d!

The first step is to REVIEW OUR GUIDELINES to see what types of content we accept and how to package them for submission. Then, SUBMIT YOUR WORK HERE. We’ll review and test it, working with you through each step. Once it’s approved and released in the Daz store, your work will be available to the public for purchase.

I just wanted to know how is your experience... I see lots of people switching to AI and there must be a reason for that too. I'm sure if you are a PA it's still convenient to sell 3d models, but I was asking to non PA vendors if they can make decent money selling their models or they make more money selling renders.

If you love to create new characters, I'd say Do It! And sell them!

If you like to sell 2D images... Do It and Sell them! If that's what you love to do!

I was a PA for a short while making Carrara-Specific products. I loved the experience and if I'd have been able to make that my serious daily endeavor, I'd have a much nicer income by now. Daz 3d was Fanastic to work with.

Thanks Dartanbeck. So basically if I understood is not worth to sell a DAZ model on ArtStation (just an example). You need to be a PA to make decent money with DAZ models. I love DAZ and I love sculpting humans. I sold some models on Unreal marketplace maybe I can convert those models for Unreal.

ArtStation might rock too. That I don't know. But what I do know is that Daz Studio has something like a Bazillion users (exaggeration intended! LOL) and many of them frquent the store looking for new characters.

Example: I've never (not once) shopped ArtStation for Daz Characters. But that doesn't mean it's not an option - but I don't think I'm alone in that.

For inspiration towards making your next Genesis 9 character, on the other hand... yeah... ArtStation! :)

There are always, of course, othe roptions. ArtStation as you've mentioned, Renderosity, ShareCG and others. But if you're going to go for it, I suggest starting at the top. Start with Daz 3d!

It'll be worth as long as you can make good ones. The figures you've shown look great ! And being a full-time PA is a life style...being a part-time PA will be another story...

I agree with Dartanbeck. Apply for PA and then sell what you made on Daz 3D.  If going for artstation, don't limit what you gonna make to Daz assets only.

And selling renders is also another stroy which depends more various factors. Anyway do things that really motivate you and you really enjoy, IMHO ~~

Thanks again. Yes, that is just what I was afraid of. This is why pictures sell better than models on DeviantArt. I already applied to become a PA but I did't get any answer yet, I think they didn't like my works. I will wait some more days and then I will convert my models to other formats so I can sell at I higher price. Sorry if I took long to response, but my English is not good.

No problem at all ~ Most of us are serious Daz and/or 3D hobbyists, we make things, tinker things and especially love good things. English is not my native language either, and I misunderstand what people say from time to time, but I've been alwasy learning and practicing, haha ~~

Anyway, pls just be more patient and take it easy ~~ Good luck !
