Deleting prop causes DS to crash

I am trying to delete a prop from a scene but every time I do DS crashes.  It just seems to be the specific prop (Above the Fog).  I seem to remember that there was a problem deleting something else (not sure if it was a prop or lights or something else) which would cause DS to crash and wondered if there was a solution?  I'd hate to have re-do the scene from scratch just to remove the one prop. :(

    I've run into similar..

You could try making a duplicate of the file and opening that and trying it.

IIRC, I've gotten around similar by creative opening/exporting/merging of scenes.

Save an uncompressed scene file, open the duf in notepad and delete it there maybe

  • Thanks for your responses, Scavenger and JaquarElla.  I had tried to save a duplicate file originally but it still crashed when I tried to delete the prop.  I looked at the scene file in notepad ++ but it was too spread out to find and delete the prop.  I ended up just saving what I wanted as a scene subset and will work from that.

If you save as a Scene Subset you will get a pop-up checkable list of scene content, simply uncheck anything you don't want saved.

  • This is starting to get tiring.  In the last few days I have been having problems with DS 4.8 crashing when I try to remove props.  I thought it was originally just one prop but it has now happened a few more times with different scenes and props.  In each scene it is just one prop that crashes DS, but not the same prop in the different scenes.  I just deleted every prop from a scene until on the offending prop was left.  As soon as that last prop was deleted, crash.

Obviously there must be something corrupted in DS, so would just uninstalling and reinstalling fix the problem?  Or am I going to have to remove DS completely from my system and re-download and start from scratch?  Any help appreciated.
