Using G8 clothes with G9

I would like to use some items of clothing from G8 for G9. However, I have a big problem with a tutu.

The problem exists both with Auto-Fit and with the RSSY Clothing Converter.

When I move the arms of G9, the edge of the tutu follows the arms and completely distorts the tutu.

In the picture, the right arm is in the basic position and the left arm is raised and the problem is clearly visible.

How can I prevent the tutu from following the arms?

I have tried Auto-Fit off, but this is not a real solution. “Point to” results in the same problem.

You need to change the weightmaps.

There have been allocated weights to the arm/hand, that shouldn't be there.

Select the tutu in the scene tab, and expand it, and click the pelvis bone (I assume the tutu should follow the pelvis bone).

Select Weight map brush, and open Tool settings, and mark 'General Weights'.

The tutu should now turn partly red. Then paint the outer part of the tutu fully red with the weight map brush.

Actually all the weight on the joints of this Tutu is wrong after auto-fit... The quickest way to fix it is to copy the weight from the Tutu on G8 to the auto-fitted one on G9:

    Part 1 : Fixing Weight (screenshots 1 ~ 2)

    1. You load a G8F into the scene and load this Tutu on her. Press Alt + Shift + W.
    2. Starting from Pelvis bone on G8's Tutu (A), in Tool Settings, select General Weight, RMB menu - Copy Selected. Select Pelvis bone on G9's Tutu (B), Paste Selected. Repeat the steps in the same way on the bones as below:
       - A - Abdomen Lower >> B - Spine 1
       - A - Abdomen Upper >> B - Spine 2
       - A - Chesst Lower >> B - Spine 3
       - A - Cheset Upper >> B - Spine 4
    3. Then check G9 figure's Pelvis, Spine 1 ~ 4, Thighs, Arms joints with Bend, Side-Side and Twist rotation properties.

    Part 2 : Fixing Corrective Morphs (screenshots 3 ~ 4)

You have to need a G9's Clone (with ERC Freezed !) on G8F, then it'll be pretty easy to transfer Corrective morphs from A to B in seconds ... If you wanna fix Corrective morphs, just let me know. Or you may add dForce modifier to this Tutu... also doable.

  • Many thanks for the answer!
Copying the weight maps works very well!
Of course I'm also interested in transferring the corrective morphs.
I had thought that RSSY Clothing Converter would do this. That's why I bought this script!
But if it works, it saves a lot of time, especially when animating a scene.

In fact, RSSY Clothing Converter cannot convert either weights with 100% accuracy or the corrective morphs from G8 to G9. So better learn how to convert and fix them manually, which is faster, better and free.

    Part 1: Make a G9's Clone on G8F with ERC Freeze: https://mega.nz/file/zWwGkBCb#BPHVpYm55S6gUtBQTMkpeTXP7No-V2dsXxERomEWd7g

Part 2: Transfer Corrective Morphs from 8 to 9 (pJCM to cbs): https://mega.nz/file/mGpRFDZT#bXpfjU0VkR_LgHbRousmJtawjvxIvoUPiW3bgRenNYc

Another clip is to show a way of using Attenuate when transferring morphs, which may help with saving time of transfer... It's for G9 to G8, but the mechanism is always the same: https://youtu.be/kh2iaN1WyyY?si=ZhNuPQ9AKwRRkk7S
