    Those steps worked, but their straps don't adhere to the ankles when the feet are bent (see attachment).

    Sorry, but there is not a single image of the heels without socks, nor did I mention it in the description that it is a possibility.

    The whole purpose to hide the feet is, to avoid distortion with custom morphs and to support "unsupported" shapes. 

    I agree with your comments, but apparently I mistakenly assumed I could just hide the socks by modifying their Cutout Opacity.  I did not know the socks were geografts, or that Cutout Opacity can't be used on geografted items.
