Different Texture size for one type over another

Say I wanted the cloth pattern to be tiled at 4, but use a normal, bump, or cutout at a different tile amount, could this be done?

  • For 3Delight yes, by using different Tiler bricks for the different maps (or one Tiler brick and adjust the S and T values).

For Iray, the Image Editor (in the map picker menu) has scaling and tiling options with the Iray Uber Shader.

    Map picker menu?

  • The little icon that, if hovered over, shows a preview of the map and if clicked gives a menu listing the loaded maps plus options to browse for a new map, use the Layered Image Editor or use the Image Editor to adjust map settings.

For 3DL it's not difficult to add separate tiling, in ShaderMixer...basically just copy the existing tiling set up and break the connections...adding a copy for each item you want to independently tile.

Thanks Richard, tried it; it isn't doing what I'm wanting. I presume it's possible to ammend the shader, but not even looked at that yet.

To have the tiler brick show up when you import from the scene, you need to have all the maps plugged in and the settings pretty much the way you want them.  Then you select the item and surface, then in Shader Mixer, File >Import from scene/

Then add another (or more) Tiler brick.  You will need ot click the little three lined/down arrow box in the upper corner of each Image Map brick you want to add a Tiler to and select Show Advanced.  Then you plug the S and T outputs of the new tiler bricks to the S and T inputs of the Image Map bricks...

Then reapply, from the Apply button in Shader Mixer and adjust maps and tiling.
