If you mean select and delete the whole geometry of the object... right mouse button click in Viewport - Geometry Selection - Select All... then Delete Selected Polygons

There is a table set with chairs, I want to move the chair by itself but all chairs and tables move at the same time so I was trying to isolate one of the chairs by deleting it then with a duplicate set deleting everything aside from the one chair I wanr to move

marquee select mode while in wireframe drawstyle is also a good way to select part of object, since it will select everything within the box/shape you draw.

    also 'select connected' option etc.

For something like that it should be pretty simple. With the geometry editor select part of the object you want to delete, right click, Geometry Selection -> Select Connected. If the chair is a bit more complicated (e.g. separate seat) you may have to do that a few times for each part.

If it's complicated, then select everything you want in wireframe drawstyle with marquee tool, so you can select in one fell swoop/mouse movement.
