Render Emitter Help

I have a (stupid) question about the render emitter when using spotlights. When I add a spotlight, and turn off the rener emitter, without fail the render emitter (the little white square) is visiible in my render. No matter what I do, I cannot get the emitter to not show up in a render. So can someone tell me how to actually turn off the emitter?

Ah. Is the camera behind anything perchance? (e.g. there's a water plane between it and the camera).

In this case, Render Emitter will have no effect. Render Emitter can only hide the light if there is nothing between it and the camera - otherwise, the light is now just part of the lighting on that other object, and you're seeing its effect on that other object, not the light itself.

Oh, this one. That is a "projector" with caustic textures rather than the Emitter of the spotlight. If you hide it, the caustic effect will be gone. So just try to avoid making this spotlight + projector appear in the composition.
