Hi All,

Is it possible to adjust the size of a saved .duf file's thumbnail png, when saving in DAZ Studio?

As in, when looking at .duf files, the png icons of your .duf File is only about 5 kbs in size. So really small and blurry.

Can you set DAZ Studio to save them as larger png files? Looked through preferences and couldn't see anything obvious.

Thx.

In latest DS version 4.22.0.15 General Release, big thumbnail (256 x 256) can be save as Tip Png images when saving duf files.

You may upgrade you DS application.

I'm on the latest version. Just tried re-saving a previous file and it saves it at 91x91px. My settings in Preferences are the same as you showed.

The standard library thumbnail needs to be 91 x 91, no less, no more.

I set Icon Creator Pro to do 512 x 512 Tip images (show up when hovering) and they work beautifully. I noticed some artists do this too for their little instruction messages - which was where I got the idea.

For my aniBlocks, I turn it back down to 256 x 256 so they don't intrude on my workspace while previewing the actual animation on my figure.

OK, so it looks like the .png is 91x91. But the .tip file is now 256x256. Don't know what the purpose of each file type is, but that's what I'm seeing on the sizing.

Is Icon Creator Pro a part of DAZ Studio? Or a plugin for it?

The base thumbnail is shown in the content panes, the tip file is shown in the tooltips that appear when the pointer hovers over the file (assuming tool tips are enabled).

If a poduct comes with .tip files, I delete the thumbnails and remove .tip from the .tip files. If there are no .tip files I use an online tool to resize them to 250 X 250.

This only helps in windows explorer because DS will still show them at the smaller size. In most newer products the modified thumbnails are still clear enough.

Just be aware that resizing the tip images to thumbnail size every time is giving DS more work to do and using more memory - multiplied by the number of thumbnails that may well be having a noticeable impact on performance.
