As it say above Did anyone do a Clothing Converter from Poser V3,V4,M3,M4 to Daz Genesis 3,8,9 M&F
that really works
Comments
Are you not happy with the Riversoft/Sickleyield ones?

I own them but admittedly I don't think I've had the time to try them.
Yes, from time to time. Generation 4 to G9~
For generation 3 (V3, M3 etc) the only thing available is clones. These work well for close fitting clothing, but are hit and miss for other types, in particular long dresses. For Generation 4, the SY clothing converters work well most of the time.
Recently I have converted V3 dresses by running a timeline dForce simulation, which does a much better job than clones, as long as the dress is suitable for dForce.
I rarely use converters but mostly auto-fit with clones + fixing corrective morphs in Blender.
Can I ask what you want to do with the Gen 3 & 4 clothing? It's frequently not as good as G3-G9 clothing in the way it's made, but sometimes has more imagination. Is it that making you want to use it on the later generations?
I'm curious, as I have gone to some efforts to take clothing from Genesis 3/8 to V3 so I can use my V3 characters (which I haven't been able to transfer to G8 satisfactorily, so taking clothing the other way was more practical). In the end I got to use new clothing on V3 and V3 characters, and I'm delighted.
Regards,
Richard.
I'm all for getting as much use out of older stuff, but a lot of those older clothes are so compartively low-poly.
OK I really want to use S A VAP Grim Armor on G3, G8 ,G9.
I know its really old, but I have not come across anything that IMA, that looks this good
I don't use any Generation 3 stuff, but I know some outfits, suits, footwear of Generation 4 have pretty good quality.
Rigid items then to convert less well both because the shape gets chnaged non-uniformly to fit the new figure, making striaght lines wavy, and because the converted weights are smoothed out, so the parts bend in posing. You might do better to break it up into pieces and then just parent them to the relevant body parts (or even use it straight, then load your character and hide the parts in the armour - just have the head or hand visible when required to show that it is wearing the armour).
Armor covers all of the character, so you could use it as is
but convert materials to iray if necessary.
OK First off thanks to all for the offers of help.
But I have done what I wanted to do and I am very happy with the result.
its works with G3 M/F G8 M/F and G9 M/F.
just need to work on the texturs and away we go.
a quick render, this is S A VAP Grim Armor on G9 female Rhemi with Chet hair,
Pitbull in the back ground
You are actively trying to use V3 characters?! You, sir, are a madman. I mean that in a good way. Also, good work on your many freebies. Thanks for sharing them.
Yep, I do use a V3 varient - Jim Burton's 'Glamorous Vickie' which I have converted to TriAx rigging, added autofit clones for V3, V4, M3, M4, A3, G3F, G3M, G8F & G8M, and my most recent image with the character is here where the MIllenium Dragon is frying G9 (Thorne's Nala) and GV3's firing at a swarm of Gen3 pixies all in an UltraScenery Australia landscape. GV3 is wearing G8F trousers & shoes, a G3F top and G3F Dragonfly Hair while wielding an M3 sword. Flames are DS VDB models (DS 4.16 & later).
and another with G3F clothing in an HDRI scene...
There are a few more images in this thread: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/108001/the-older-generation-victoria-2-3-michael-2-3-and-their-children-renders#latest
As for the freebies.. Thanks, but what can I say? I have benefited so much from the generosity of so many people, it's the only practical way to say 'thank you'.
Regards,
Richard
Very cool, @richardandtracy :)
Nice! I would LOVE to have a Jim Burton's 'Glamorous Vickie clone for G9 (or G8). I loved the figure, it was the first one I purchased for DAZ
Yeah, I agree. I have tried, but GV3 doesn't seem to transfer well from Gen3 with GenX2.
I did commission a character as a GV3 look-alike for G8F, and she's my favourite G8F character. Had to commission as my modelling efforts were not a success.
I've tweaked the figure a bit since, but I'm very happy with it.
@myotherworld , I do apologise for derailing the thread. I'll shut up now.
Regards,
Richard
...nice work,
Now that pic above takes me back in a very different way as it reminds of the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory in my old hometown of Milwaukee that has three large geodesic domes which house displays of various plants inside. One dome is dedicated to desert plants, the other to tropical plants and the third hosts rotating selections .The facility was constructed in several stages from 1959 to 1967 and refurbished in 2008
.
Sadly the domes are threatened with demolition though there are several groups trying to save them. The entire facility is on the National Histroric Register.
That's a lovely facility, and far too young to demolish. I have been to a similar place in Cornwall, the Eden Project https://www.edenproject.com/ in an old China Clay quarry. Absolutely amazing.
Regards,
Richard.
...really interesting. Needs to go on the bucket list for my eventual trip to Europe.. ..
Did you use a backdrop of the interior?
please dont worry. I am, along with others finding your comments interesting.
So please feel free to add more
I think I need to have a close look at "autofit clones"
Any one have any feed back on them ?
Richard ?
Can I suggest a read of the tutorial I did in this thread: Making TriAx figures from Parametric Figures It details all that's necessary to convert the old figures (A3/A4/F3/F4/GV3/H3/H4/IV/K3/K4/M3/M4/SF4/SP3/V3/V4) to have the benefit of some new features. Included in the tutorial are four poses to make M3/V3 into rough autofit clones for G3F, G3M, G8F & G8M, so your generation 3 character can wear the clothes of those later generations, and further through the thread I include a pair of poses to allow M4/V4 autofit clones to be generated. They are.. rough & ready [good term to make 'Barely Adequate' seem more acceptable] autofit clones, but with smoothing modifiers they generally work. Better ones would involve a modeller (which I don't have a suitable one I can use) & sharing DAZ copyright material (not permitted), so I have gone as far as I can with autofit clones for Generation 3.
The tutorial also covers morphing between characters. The tutorial shows how to load other generation 3 characters and have them as full body morphs that enable V3 (or A3 or M3 or... any other Generation3 base figure) to morph into H3, then M3, GV3 and A3 etc. A side effect is that the character can morph from male to female. And all existing V3/M3 character morphs can be included in the figure in a similar way to Genesis3/G8/G9 and morph between any of them at the stroke of a slider.
The tutorial short-changes you a bit - I claim that it's a 69 page pdf, while it actually came out at 68 pages after the last edit. However, it shows everything necessary to generate the TriAx gen3 character in an order that works. It does not show how to create clothing templates for the good behaviour of capes & dresses/skirts. Mostly because I don't yet know how to do it. One further thing it does not do is show how to improve the joint weighting. You are left with the [pretty terrible] DS approximation of the original Poser joint parameters. It's no worse than in Poser 4 or 5, but it needs care to chose camera angles where elbows, hips/buttocks and knees look OK. I hope to be able to do something about that myself one day.
Regards,
Richard
I didn't, actually, it is a PolyHaven HDRI I came across last year. I think it's: Roof Garden. Regards, Richard.
thank you Richard,
It an interesting read
well worth the time
