Quickest way to "reset" an Iray Uber shader to its first default state? (solved)

I am currently in the process to get at a basic understanding about Iray in order to understand how and which Iray Material Nodes values could be used to be picked up to be converted to OctaneRender materials.

I am looking for the quickest workflow to reset a selected surface zone to a blank Iray Uber Shader.

The workflow:

1) Create New Scene

2) place sphere

image

By default the sphere has the "DAZ Studio Default" 3Delight shader applied

- 3) Apply the Iray Uber Base from the product "Default Lights and Shaders"

image

- 4) test out different Iray shaders or change the values manually

Now what I would like to do is to quickly reset the selected surface zone to the default state it was in when I started at 3)

When I just toss another Iray Uber Base shader preset on top of an existing Iray Uber Shader values like Base Color are not reset.

Question 1) What is the quickest way to reset a surface zone to a default Iray Uber Base shader state?

Question 2) What is the quickest way to reset a surface zone to a default DAZ Studio 3Delight shader?

Example:

In OctaneRender I can simply right click any surface zone and select

- create blank material

Are there no such options in the DAZ Studio surface tab?

- create blank default Iray Uber material?

- create blank default DAZ Studio 3Delight material?

- - -

Currently using the latest Daz Studio Pro BETA - version 4.9.0.44

Both questions can be answered in one. Make two new Mat presets before you start, one for 3DL and one for the Iray. Then all you need to do is double click the preset to revert.

You can do this from the Content Library (NOT SMART CONTENT) and at the bottom of the Pane are two buttons a Plus and Minus sign. Select a folder or make a new one in the Daz Studio format section, I normally put them in Shader Presets, then select your object and click on the + and save as a material preset. When finished they should show in the folder you saved them to.

PS to make a new folder in the Content Library Pane just selct say the Shader Preset folder and right click and chose to Create a new Sub Folder

Thanks a lot for your quick answer!

I hoped that there would have been an option I overlooked in the Surface tab itself.

But I am happy to have learned something new as well. Did not remember that the "+" symbol would trigger the save selections as well.

Always did it with File / Save as before...

Big thanks. This helped me as well. An additional tip to access the newly created material preset faster:

A: Right-click the thumbnail of the material preset in the content library
    B: Create custom action
C: Find the new custom action quickly on the top of the Daz Studio application under the "scripts" drop-down menu

What I am still being helpful...can't have that. LOL

Yeah the old custom action I have done that for a few things.
