Question about subD setting for G9 characters

My understanding for G8 is that there is no difference rendering non-Daz store characters above subD 1. For Daz store "HD", it depends but generally it means 3.
What is for G9? I assume since non-Daz store PA can only work with the base character it means they can't go higher than subD 1 but some defaults are 2 for viewport and 3 for rendering. I've read that V9 should be rendered at subD 4. So instead of G9 base reset at 1 we should bump the settings up by 1 vs. G8?

PAs from Daz store usually make HD morphs (DHDM - Daz HD Morph files) from SubD Level 1 to 5, so they set the same Render SubD Level accordingly, as default. But considering VRAM consumption, it's not a must, e.g. for HD5, you certainly can set Render SubD Level 3 - 4...
Non Daz Store PAs cannot import morphs with SubD resolution... that's why they have to export figure to OBJ files with Base resolution. However, they still can set higher values on View SubD Level and Render SubD Level on the figure as needed...
V9 HD has HD morphs of SubD Level 4, so 4 is set as default value in Render SubD Level. Still it's not a must... Well comparing to G8.1, G9's default View SubD is downgraded to 1, just because the polycount of G9 was increase to 25K. Setting it as 1 is to assure better performance in Viewport. You may crank it up if there's no performance issue with your rig. Besides, its Render SubD Level is still 3.
Non-HD morphs won't add extra details, but SubD will still smooth the mesh (and the Genesis figues are designed to work with SubD applied.) The additional vertices added by SubD can also be used by displacement.
SubD level also depends on what one is rendering, is one doing dermatological studies of the figure's nose pores or does one render a standing full body. The first one needs a high SubD, with the second one, one is just wasting VRAM with high SubD's.
