Not to complain, however...
The Lightning Deal webpage has a line that says, "We've curated a selection of Items you're bound to love!"
While I appreciate a good sale, this would seem more sincere if the sale options were for products I can actually use. HD Add-Ons for characters I don't own as well as textures for outfits I don't own are non-starters. Plus, I haven't used anything older that Genesis 3 is years. In fact, I rarely use Genesis 3. Stuff I still use has been converted over to Genesis 8 and I'm starting to get familiar with Genesis 9.
If this is an actual selection of products aimed at me then the selection criteria needs work.
Thanks for listening and have a great day.

It's an algorithmic selection. I can only guess at the actual parameters, but it seems to respond to stuff you look at, stuff you've looked at recently, maybe stuff you;ve bought, etc. I am frequently offered items from my wishlist. Sometimes I buy, other times the price still isn't that great. That's the other thing: Prices depend on prices in the store. In all, though, I think it's a pretty cool feature, especially if you have Daz+..
I agree that it is a pretty cool feature. My only complaint is the limited number of products that actually interest me. To one of your points, I see a lot of stuff for V3 and V4, both of which I own. That said, I haven't bought anything for them in quite some time.
Well the algorithm sure doesn't work for me. It's never come up with something I would buy.
There was a similar discussion on this topic a while back.

IDK. I still buy V4 stuff when the urge strikes. I bought from the $1.99 V4 sale last week. A few days ago, LD offered me https://www.daz3d.com/sukai-8-superhero-bundle at 94% off. Sadly, that is not a bundle I wanted. It was still a really nice offer! And it's not the only really nice offer I've had. Some of them, I bought them! I guess it's a YMMV experience.
I think these things just come in at random. My sister and I get totally different selections during the same 3-hour times. I never buy any of the pre-Genesis things, unless there's an environment or props that looks interesting. Never the characters, clothing, or hair for any of those really early characters. But a lot of those show up in my offerings every three hours. I still do buy things in the sale, though. I love it when an add-on shows up for something I already have is only 69 cents or some crazy low price. I grab those. I do see more unusable things in there than those I can use, but I think it's a lot of fun to check it every three hours to see if there's something fun in there that I can buy dirt cheap.
Your remark about add-ons goes to my point. If the LD items are selected by some algorithm then why am I getting add-ons for products I don't own?
You could get lucky and the base product could be on sale too, or at least at a price compatible with your budget when the discount on the addon is taken into account.
I did that once with an addon in my lightning deal, buying the base product in the same order. And during last month advent calendar, I got an addon in the first half of the month, for a product I didn't have, but one I was sure I would get in the future: in the end, that base product was in my advent calendar in the second half of the month
Good point. I've been dismissing the add-on items for products that I don't own. Looking for a sale on the base item is a good idea. Thanks.
I did that too. There was one lightning deal texture set for a little over a buck last month, it was a DO set so I got the texture set and put the main outfit in my wishlist and the next day it showed up as the freebie in my advent calendar. If I know at some point I'm going to get the whole set, if I get the textures cheap enough, I'll pick them up beforehand.
I got quite a few lightning deals products in the December sale. I was often getting prices under a dollar.
I once saw a G8 mega bundle for, I think, $1.97 in there. Didn't buy it because I had half the stuff in the bundle, which may have partly been why it was so cheap, but even at double the price that would've been a very nice deal for anyine who didn't have any of it. In general, though, the lighting deals prices have rarely - if ever - enticed me. December may have been the first time I bought from it.
