Best Way to to Set up Multiple Renders

When I set up a scene (for a comic) and want to show action in different panels, I usually skip 5 frames between each set up. However by the time I get to frame 60-70or so (12-15 renders) posing slows down to a crawl. Am I doing it wrong? Should I just go frame to frame? I use the 5-frame skip in case I want to insert some action. These are not actual animations, just reposings. This is three or four Genesis to Genesis 3 level figures, scenes and ususally quite a few props.

Or, is there any way to take the last frame and make it the first frame of a new file (erasing everything else).
